Darin V. Himmerich

Biography

Darin Himmerich received his MFA in Scenic Design from the University of South Dakota.  He has traveled a long road getting to UNK.  He spent time as the Technical Director at Lincoln Community Playhouse and Assistant to the Designer at the Omaha Community Playhouse.  He and his family lived in Los Angeles for seven years, and while there he got hands-on training in the way the Entertainment Industry does scenery.  Darin has designed scenery for Nebraska Repertory Theatre (Mauritius, Unnecessary Farce), The Black Hills Playhouse (Inspecting Carol, All Shook Up), as well as the Lincoln and Omaha Playhouses.  Last year Darin’s designs were seen on UNK stages for all four mainstage season productions.  He has been active with the Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival and won a Certificate of Merit for Technical Direction when he made it rain on stage during The Night of the Iguana.
