Homecoming Royalty

The winners of the Homecoming Royalty competition will be determined by popular vote. Each Royalty candidates photo is shown below. Voting will take place via student e-mail. The first round of voting will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, September 24 & 25, 2019. Four King Candidates and Four Queen Candidates will then be announced as finalists and voted upon via student e-mail Monday and Tuesday, September 30 & October 1, 2019.

Announcement of the Homecoming Royalty and Court will take place following the Lip Sync Competition in the Health and Sports Center Arena on Thursday, October 3 at 7:00 pm. On Saturday, October 5, the 2019 Homecoming King, Queen and Court will ride in the Homecoming Parade at 10:00 a.m. The Royalty & Court will also be introduced during half time of the 2:00 pm Loper Football Game vs Emporia State.

2019 King Finalists

Gabriel Crocker, Sigma Phi Epsilon

Gabe, a senior from Kearney, is majoring in Chemistry with a Health Science Emphasis and a Business Administration minor. He made his decision to come to UNK after he became a Kearney Bound Scholar in high school. Gabe has continued to give back to his community by co-leading a volunteer program called Skills for Success and helping coach wrestling at a local middle school. He has also been actively involved in Student Government and Sigma Phi Epsilon, while also serving as a Chancellor’s Student Ambassador. He plans on attending dental school after graduation.

Jose Ortega, Sigma Phi Epsilon

Jose, a senior from Lexington, is majoring in Biology. Throughout his time at UNK, he has been involved with the Chancellor’s Student Ambassadors, Undergraduate Research Fellowship, and Mortar Board. Jose has also been a Student Diplomat, Loper Leader and a part of Conozca (Con-os-kuh) UNK, which is a program that assists Spanish-speaking families who attend campus visits at UNK. He is also a United States Hispanic Leadership Institute and ODI Scholarship Recipient. Jose enjoys fishing and volunteering at MDA camps.

Jacob Roth, Loper Programming and Activities Council

A junior from Milford, Jacob is a Sports Communication Major with a minor in History. The son of Dan and Jade, he is currently an RA on campus. Jacob is involved in Intramural Sports and was an NSE Leader this past summer. He is also a member of Loper Programming and Activities Council and you can hear him on the campus radio station, 91.1 KLPR.

Zach Sullivan, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

Zach is a senior football player majoring in Industrial Technology and Organizational Communication. An active student off the field, Zach is an undergraduate research fellow, where he studies solar energy net metering laws along with corporate social responsibility. He also works as a Success Coach mentoring students in the UNK Learning Commons. Zach is the president of Epsilon Pi Tau and a member of the UNK Men’s Project. Community involvement for Zach includes volunteering at Kearney S.A.F.E Center and Press-On Youth Center. Zach likes exploring new cities, spending time in the mountains and visiting his family. He hopes to work in the renewable energy field and eventually own his own business.

Parker Humpal, Student-Athlete Advisory Committee

Parker, a junior Elementary Education and Business Administration major, is the daughter of Jason and Linda of Fort Collins, Colorado. She is a forward for the Loper Women’s Soccer Team and has been a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes for three years. She has also been a member of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee for the past three years and is actively involved in her sorority, Alpha Xi Delta.

Makenzie Petersen, Mantor/Randall

Mackenzie, the daughter of Tricia and Mike, is a Language Arts Education 7-12 major from O’Neill. She is currently an RA for Mantor Hall, was an NSE leader this last summer and is a senior advisor for Phi Eta Sigma. Mak P is also a researcher for the URF Program, a member of Sigma Tau Delta and is on the Dean’s List.

Haley Pierce, FIRST Leaders

Haley is a senior studying Journalism with a minor in Political Science from West Point. She has been involved in the Honors Program, Undergraduate Research, and Loper Programming and Activities Council. She has also been active in FIRST Leaders, Students in Mass Media, and National Residence Hall Honorary. She has worked on campus as a student diplomat, NSE Leader and Blue & Gold Welcome Coordinator. She loves UNK and is incredibly thankful for the faculty, staff and friends she’s met along the way.

Hannah Sealock, Alpha Omicron Pi

Hanna, a senior majoring in Exercise Science with an emphasis in Pre-Physical Therapy, is the daughter of Greg and Cara of Columbus. She is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi, Exercise Science Club, and Panhellenic Council, where she holds an officer position in each. She is also a member of Order of Omega, Alpha Epsilon Delta, Mortar Board and Undergraduate Research Fellowship. She volunteers with may organizations, such as Volunteers Around the World, TOPS Soccer and Camp Luther of Nebraska. She plans to attend Physical Therapy School after graduation.
