At the Loper Launch Speech Academy, students build confidence in their speech while having fun! This specialized one-week camp, offered in collaboration with the UNK Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic, provides individualized instruction for students entering grades 1-4 who have an IEP for speech sounds or whose families have concerns about their speech development.

Led by master’s-level clinicians, this academy offers a unique blend of one-on-one instruction and engaging group activities designed to help students strengthen their speech in a supportive, social setting. Through interactive games, hands-on learning, and plenty of encouragement, campers will not only improve their communication skills, but also develop friendships and discover that they’re not alone in their speech journey.

Hear From Parents and Instructors

"My favorite part of Speech Academy is seeing how connections form in supporting the children participating. The children connecting with our graduate students and the community that is built over that week is inspiring."
– Dr. Whitney Schneider-Cline, Professor

“My favorite part of speech camp is seeing the excitement each morning when the campers check in and meet up with their speech buddy (graduate student). Both the campers and speech buddies are always excited to see one another and their enthusiasm is contagious.”
– Laura Mood, UNK Speech, Language, and Hearing Clinic Coordinator

“[My child] LOVED speech camp! It was so exciting to see her shine and all the teachers were wonderful to work with. Thanks, UNK, for the great opportunity!”
– Speech Academy parent

"Seeing the children genuinely excited to come to camp each day to improve their speech skills was so fulfilling to me as a future clinician! I learned how to adapt child-preferred activities to simultaneously target speech sounds so that therapy felt like true summer camp fun!"
- Anecia Woolcock, graduate student
