The role of the UNK Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC) is to oversee research and teaching activities that involve recombinant and synthetic nucleic acids, human-derived materials, bloodborne pathogens and other biological agents, including bacteria, viruses, parasites, fungi, and toxins.
The mission of the UNK IBC is to protect the students, faculty or staff working in the laboratories and/or field from hazards in those areas.
