Dr. Mirim Kim

Biography

Dr. Mirim Kim is a collaborative pianist who loves to make music with people and inspire audiences. She joined the University of Nebraska at Kearney in 2021 as a Collaborative Pianist and enjoys working with the students and faculty at UNK. Dr. Kim has performed at many UNK events, including New Music Festivals, Choral Symposiums, Faculty Recitals, Dance Performances, and Honor Choir Clinics. She also has collaborated with the Loper Opera as a musical director and UNK choirs as a pianist.

Her career as a collaborative pianist includes both vocal and instrumental performances. In 2021, she performed at the Nebraska Music Education Association with UNK Choraleers, directed by Dr. John Petzet. In 2022, she performed a recital and lecture recital at the Great Plains Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference with Dr. Robert Benton, Euphonium. She also performed with the Tallgrass Chamber Choir's Christmas Concerts, directed by Dr. Jacob Narverud. Dr. Kim was also a collaborative pianist for multiple music festivals, such as Domaine Forget International Festival in Canada, Castleman Quartet Program in NY, SongFest in CA, and Music Academy of the West in CA.

Dr. Kim graduated summa cum laude with her Bachelor of Music in Piano at the Sookmyung Women's University. She holds a Master's degree in Piano from Indiana University and served as an Assistant Instructor. She also earned her Master's and Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Collaborative Piano at The University of Texas at Austin, where she served as a Teaching Assistant.
