Biography

Dr. Mirim Kim has served as a full-time Collaborative Pianist at the University of Nebraska at Kearney since 2021 and as Organist at Kearney First United Methodist Church since 2022.  At UNK, she has performed in faculty recitals, choir concerts, Loper Opera productions, the New Music Festival, choral symposia, and annual honor choir clinics.

Dr. Kim brings balanced experience in both vocal and instrumental repertoires to her work.  She was a Collaborative Pianist for the 2025 NATS Intern program, served as a conference pianist at 2024 Great Plains Regional Tuba Euphonium Conference, and worked with the Tallgrass Chamber Singers from 2021 to 2022, recording newly composed choral works.  In May 2025, Dr. Kim was honored to perform Steve Dobrogosz’s Mass at Carnegie Hall’s Stern Auditorium with the UNK Choir.

Throughout her career, Dr. Kim has participated in numerous summer festivals, including Miami Music Festival (2025), Music Academy of The West (2019), and SongFest (2018).  She also served as an instrumental pianist for the Castleman Quartet Program (2016, 2017) and the Domaine Forget International Music Festival (2015). 

Dr. Kim earned her Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Collaborative Piano from The University of Texas at Austin, where she held a five-year teaching assistantship.  She also holds a Master of Music degree in Piano from Indiana University and a Bachelor of Music degree in Piano from the Sookmyung Women’s University, where she graduated summa cum laude.
