Jordan Miettinen was born on August 9, 1986, in North Platte, Nebraska. He is a proud descendant of generations of military veterans and continues a tradition of service and commitment. Jordan enlisted in the Nebraska Army National Guard during his senior year of high school and, upon graduating from Grand Island Senior High School in May 2005, he left for Basic Combat Training.
His first assignment was with the 1195th Transportation Company in Lexington, Nebraska, where he served as a driver and team leader. In 2009, he deployed to Baghdad, Iraq, in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. During his 12-month deployment, he served as a Truck Commander conducting convoy security operations throughout central Iraq.
In 2015, then-Staff Sergeant Miettinen volunteered for a second combat tour to Iraq with B Company, 2nd Battalion, 135th Aviation Regiment, serving as a door gunner on a CH-47 Chinook helicopter in support of Operation Inherent Resolve. Stationed at Camp Buehring, Kuwait, his unit conducted aerial transport of troops and supplies into northern Iraq during a 9-month deployment.
Upon returning home in 2016, he successfully tried out for Nebraska’s Long Range Surveillance (LRS) Company. He joined E Company, 2nd Battalion, 134th Infantry Regiment (LRS), where he served as a Team Leader and participated in numerous training missions, including Exercise Aurora 17 in Sweden.
In 2023, he deployed again—this time to the Horn of Africa—with the 2-134th Infantry Battalion (Airborne) as a Platoon Sergeant in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. During the 9-month deployment to Somalia, his unit provided base security in austere conditions, conducted both mounted and dismounted patrols, and participated in joint operations with U.S. Navy Special Warfare. He also conducted airborne operations alongside French paratroopers.
Today, Mr. Miettinen continues to serve in the 2-134th Infantry Battalion as a Platoon Sergeant in Company B and serves as a qualified Jumpmaster for the battalion. He has over 20 years of honorable service.

Mr. Miettinen is married to Amber Miettinen. They live in Kearney, Nebraska, and have four children, two girls and two boys. In his free time, he enjoys traveling with his family, playing golf, hunting, and spending time with friends and loved ones.
