CPT Marchand is a Nebraska native and University of Nebraska Kearney alumnus who commissioned as an Army officer through the UNK ROTC program. He serves as an officer in the Nebraska National Guard and brings a unique combination of academic achievement, professional experience, and military service to the department. He is qualified in both transportation and logistics and holds the Basic Parachutist Badge.
CPT Marchand graduated from Kearney High School before enrolling at UNK, where he discovered that ROTC offered something most college programs could not — real leadership experience, professional development, and a clear path to serving something larger than himself. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Arts in History and a minor in Military Science, demonstrating that academic excellence and military commitment are not competing priorities but complementary ones.
CPT Marchand is a graduate of the Transportation Basic Officer Course, the Logistics Captains Career Course, and the Basic Airborne Course. He holds additional certifications in hazardous material transportation. His military education reflects a career built on continuous professional development and a willingness to pursue demanding training opportunities.
CPT Marchand has served in a variety of leadership positions across the logistics and sustainment field, including platoon leader, executive officer, and staff officer roles. His assignments have spanned conventional and specialized units, giving him broad experience across the Army’s sustainment enterprise.
Before his current AGR assignment, CPT Marchand also served as a federal law enforcement officer, bringing civilian professional experience that directly complements his military background.
Army Achievement Medal, National Defense Service Medal, Armed Forces Service Medal, Army Service Ribbon, Nebraska National Guard Emergency Service Medal, and the Basic Parachutist Badge.
CPT Marchand’s path began exactly where yours might — as a Nebraska student at UNK wondering what ROTC could offer. He found that it offered more than he expected: leadership skills that transfer everywhere, a professional network that spans the country, and the opportunity to serve his state and nation in ways that a standard career path never could.
He is a husband and father with deep roots in the Kearney community. He understands that prospective cadets are weighing real questions about how military service fits with careers, families, and life in Nebraska. Those are conversations he is glad to have.
