Student AI Learning Community

The Student AI Learning Community at the University of Nebraska at Kearney provides a collaborative environment for students to explore how artificial intelligence can enhance their academic experience, boost productivity, and prepare them for the evolving workforce. Whether students are new to AI or already experimenting with tools, the community supports learning at all levels.

Purpose

The community is designed to:

  • Help students build foundational and advanced AI skills to support academic and career goals.
  • Create a peer-driven environment for sharing experiences and practical strategies for using AI.
  • Explore the ethical and responsible use of AI in both academic and professional contexts. 

Meetings

  • Meeting Frequency: Bi-weekly (day/time TBD)
  • Meeting Format: Hybrid (in-person at the Academic Innovation & Technology Center/Ockinga, and virtual via Zoom)
  • Session Length: 1 hour 

Sessions offer hands-on opportunities to explore AI tools, discuss current topics, and collaborate on projects that connect AI use to student life and future careers.

Support and Resources

Students in the community have access to curated resources, guides, and tools designed to meet their needs. They also benefit from mentorship opportunities through the Loper AI Lab and support from experienced peers and university staff.
