DRIVE

DRIVE (Driver Reinstatement, Improvement, and Vehicle Education)

DRIVE is a 4-hour, driver improvement course approved by the Nebraska Department of Motor Vehicles. Topics covered include vehicle operation, factors related to safe and responsible driving (attitude, judgment, personal responsibility, minimizing risk), and the Nebraska Drivers Manual.

Taking this course satisfies the requirements for:

  • Reinstatement for point revocation
  • Under Age 21 – accumulation of 6 points
  • Employment driving permit
  • Out-of-state infractions (not all states are eligible)
  • Court-ordered referral
  • Two point credit on the driver record (restrictions apply)*

*To receive the two-point credit, the class must be completed on a voluntary basis – if the Nebraska DMV is requiring the course for reinstatement or to prevent suspension for the under age 21 point accumulation – it will not be used for the point credit. Point reduction can only be utilized once every five years and the course must be completed prior to the date of violation that would assess the 12th point on the driving record.

Class times are Saturdays 8:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. or Sundays 1:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.(Central time) which includes the DMV-required 4 hours of classroom instruction.

The cost of the class is $125, payable at the time of registration. The registration deadline is the Thursday before class. Registration will close sooner if maximum capacity is reached.
