Todd Gottula

Bio

Todd Gottula was named senior director of communications and marketing in 2019 after previously serving as director of news and internal communications.

He is responsible for managing UNK’s marketing, media relations, graphic design, print, video production, photography, web, social media, licensing and public relations initiatives. He has extensive knowledge in communications strategy/emergency response and serves as UNK’s campus spokesperson and lead on crisis communication.

A native of Auburn, Nebraska, Gottula graduated with a bachelor’s degree in English with an emphasis in journalism from Peru State College.

Before joining UNK in 2013, he worked as vice president of communications for the Tri-City Storm hockey team and Viaero Event Center in Kearney, where he booked high-profile concerts and oversaw the venue’s marketing and public relations efforts.

His career includes 15 years as a reporter, photographer and editor at the Kearney Hub newspaper. Gottula’s career began as news editor at the Auburn Press Tribune and Nemaha County Herald.

Gottula’s community involvement has included serving as chair of the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and several other boards, organizations and committees, including RAE of Hope Foundation, Leadership Kearney, Kearney Works, America’s Best Communities and UNK’s Staff Senate, Emergency Operations Team, Strategic Planning Committee and the University of Nebraska Alumni Advisory Council.
