Todd Gottula

Bio

 Todd Gottula came to UNK in 2013 and advanced to senior director of communications and marketing in 2019, after serving as director of news and internal communications. He oversees all aspects of UNK’s marketing and communications, including media and public relations, graphic design, print and digital content production, photography, video, social media and licensing. Serving as the university's spokesperson, Gottula also leads emergency communications for UNK.

A native of Auburn, Nebraska, Gottula earned his bachelor's degree in English with a journalism emphasis from Peru State College. Before joining UNK, he was vice president of communications for the Tri-City Storm hockey team and Viaero Event Center in Kearney, where he managed marketing, PR and booked major concerts for the venue.

With more than 15 years of experience as a reporter, photographer and editor for the Kearney Hub newspaper, Gottula began his career as news editor at the Auburn Press Tribune and Nemaha County Herald.

Gottula is actively involved in the community, having served as chair of the Kearney Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors and on various boards and committees, including the RAE of Hope Foundation, Leadership Kearney, Kearney Works and America’s Best Communities. He also holds several FEMA certifications and is trained and has presented for the National Center for Spectator Sports Safety and Security.

Currently, Gottula is a member of the UNK Administrative Council, Emergency Operations Team, University of Nebraska Alumni Advisory Council, University of Nebraska Brand Identity Committee, and he has previously served on the UNK Staff Senate and Strategic Planning Committee.
