Brewed Awakenings supporting student artists

Brewed Awakening, the student operated coffee shop in the College of Business and Technology, prioritizes supporting students and offering quality, affordable products to their customers. The student leaders for Brewed Awakening recently developed an idea to showcase businesses of UNK students at the Brewed Awakening shop. Two UNK students who have started their own business will have their products on display that will be for sale in Brewed Awakening. These products will be available for at least six weeks before a new set of students are introduced.

The first two student businesses to be featured at Brewed Awakening are Custom Paintings by Nicole Mittman and Poppin’ Delights by Cameron Krueger. Nicole was the top prize winner and Cameron was the third place recipient at the Big Idea Kearney pitch competition that was hosted by CBT’s Center for Entrepreneurship and Rural Development. Nicole is a sophomore majoring in wildlife biology. She started Nicole’s Paintings during her junior year of high school so she could make money to pay for a trip to Costa Rica without getting a "real" job. At the time, she was only selling to her classmates and family, but now she owns an Etsy shop and has shipped paintings all across the country. Cameron Krueger is from Norfolk, Nebraska. His motivation as an entrepreneur is to build a successful business and be his own boss. His reason for doing this is that he loves people and enjoys putting a smile on a customer’s face after getting them to try something new.

You can visit the Brewed Awakening shop during their normal hours of operation Monday through Friday 7:30 am – 12:30 pm to check out the products and make a purchase! Any students interested in partnering with Brewed Awakening can contact the Brewed Awakening shop manager at vedurumudis2@lopers.unk.edu
