If students are not moving into summer housing, then they must check out by Noon on Friday, May 16, 2025 (not including Village Flats). Below are the check out instructions you should follow to insure a successful checkout.
- Spring Cleaning Day: We encourage you to identify a day with your roommate/suitemate to take out all trash and minimize the things you will likely be donating at the end of the year. It will help tremendously in making your move out experience smoother. Goodwill will have a donation trailer on campus in Lot 28 (South of CTE) May 12th through May 19th. We will NOT have donation boxes in the residence halls this year.
- Quiet Hours: 24-hour quiet hours begin Sunday, May 11th at 1:00AM. Violations of this will result in offenders having one hour to vacate their room after their last final.
- Mail: Mail delivery on campus will stop on Wednesday, May 14th. Log in to your MyBLUE account and change your ‘Permanent Address’ to reflect the address where you will be living this summer so that mail can be forwarded to you.
- Bikes: Be sure to take your bicycle home. Bikes left for the summer will be impounded.
- Lofts: Lofts are to be left in your room. If you live in Antelope and the Nesters, your loft must be taken down and stored in the hall closet prior to checking out of your room.
- Summer/365 Housing: If you are living on-campus for summer classes, you will move to your summer assignment on the date assigned to you by the office of residence life. You should have a Save the Date that has been emailed to you. On your assigned day you will pick up your keys at the Antelope front desk. Your specific move time/date will depend on your current housing location.
Checking out of your room:
Please schedule a check-out time by Saturday May 10th at 5:00PM. Your RA will have a signup sheet at the mandatory floor meeting & posted at their front door until May 10th. We will begin processing check-outs on Monday, May 12th. If you need to alter your time, please contact your RA. Please go to your appointment at the time you signed up for. You will meet the RA at their room, remember that RAs may have multiple checkouts in a row so please be patient. At your checkout appointment, RAs will inspect your room and collect your keys in an envelope. Below you will find the Room Cleaning and Check Out Guidelines. If you need to check out outside of an RA’s availability, please communicate with your RA or RHC.
If you are charged for damages or an improper fee, you will see a charge on your student account by Thursday, May 22nd. If you are concerned about a possible charge, please contact me as soon as possible. Hall staff, under the guidance of UNK Facilities, make the final decision on room damage charges.
After your check out appointment, your RA will complete your Room Condition Report and log your returned key envelope to ensure proper keys are returned. Once you check out, you may not reenter your room. Failure to complete these checks out steps will result in an improper check out charge of $50. Please consult our Residence Life Move Out website for more information.
