The Jeanne Clery Disclosure of Campus Security Policy and Campus Crime Statistics Act or Clery Act is in memory of 19-year-old Lehigh University freshman Jeanne Clery (pictured right) who was murdered in her dorm room on April 5, 1986. The Clery Act is a federal law that requires colleges and universities who receive federal funding to share information about crimes on campus. This information is made publicly accessible through the university’s annual security report and is publicized for the campus community, prospective students, and employees, and submitted to the U.S. Department of Education by October 1st of every year. The overall goal of the Clery Act is to encourage reporting and collection of campus crime data, to promote crime and safety awareness, and to enhance campus security.
UNK’s Annual Security Report (ASR) is a report that contains campus crime and fire statistics. You can access UNK’s ASR by viewing the Annual Campus Security and Fire Safety Report (Clery Report). You may also request a copy of it by contacting UNKPD directly 308-865-8911 or unk.edu/police.
