Take the First Step Towards a Successful Year

The First-Gen Trailblazer Academy is a week-long practice run before classes start for first-generation college students. It is a math prep and team-building program that will get you off to the best possible start, boost your confidence as you transition to college, and is designed to:

  • Prep you in math, effective time-management, and study strategies.
  • Introduce you to your UNK support team, including faculty, staff, and fellow Lopers.
  • Provide you with the LNSK 103 textbook and access to the Math 101 homework platform for free.
  • Be fun and build community!

We’re currently accepting applications for Fall 2024!

Review of applications will begin on May 6 and continue until all spots are filled.

WHO IS ELIGIBLE?

New first-year, first-generation students who are not already part of another support program, such as Susan T. Buffett Scholarship recipients or Kearney Bound, and who have a math ACT score of 19 or below. We’re interested in students who are motivated to get a head start and meet the people who are here to support you!

WHAT’S THE COST?

There is no cost to participate in the 5-day program. All meals and supplies for the week will be provided.

WHEN IS IT?

August 17-22 – You’ll move into your residence hall one week early on August 17 and participate in the program the next five days. It ends Friday morning, August 23, in time for Blue Gold Welcome Week events.
