Biography

Marilyn Musick completed her undergraduate course in music at Dana College in Blair, NE.  and continued her organ studies at UNL., where she received the M.M. and D.M.A. degrees, studying with renowned professors, Drs. Quentin Faulkner and George Ritchie.

For several years Dr. Musick was instructor for Kearney-area students enrolled in the UNL Parish Organist Training Program.  She has held positions as organist and music director in churches in Omaha, Lincoln, and Kearney, NE, and has performed as accompanist for both the Omaha Symphonic Chorus and the Nebraska Choral Arts Society.  In 1980 Ms. Musick won semifinalist standing in the Bay View National Organ Competition in Bay View, Michigan.

Highlights of her career were her experiences at the 1993 Summer Institute for French Organ Studies, where she studied and performed upon 18th- and 19th-century historic organs in Souvigny and Lyons, France, and a German Organ Study tour in 2015, where she was able to learn about and to play organs that were played by J.S. Bach.

Presently, Dr. Musick works at UNK as a collaborative pianist and Lecturer in organ, and is organist at St. Luke’s Episcopal Church in Kearney, NE.
