About the History Degree Program

On Campus Online

A History degree from UNK gives students a strong understanding of past events, people, ideas and values in the United States and in other parts of the world. History students also study contemporary society from a historical perspective that includes multi-cultural and global contexts.

Experiential learning is a core part of the program, whether it's an internship, a semester abroad or a research project undertaken alongside faculty advisors, all students graduate with “out-of-the-classroom” experiences that help shape their approach to history.

Courses prepare students for a variety of careers from graduate and law schools to public history and secondary teaching posts to business and industry.

Each member of our faculty teaches courses at all levels from freshman surveys through graduate seminars. Many have won awards that recognize the high quality of their scholarship, teaching and service.
