About the Pre-Dental Hygiene Program

Dental hygienists work with dentist and dental specialist to help patients maintain good oral health. They clean teeth, take x-rays, apply sealants and flourides, examine for oral diseases, and teach patients about oral hygiene. A dental hygienist works in offices of general dentists and dental specialists, public health agencies, community clinics, dental schools, dental hygiene education programs, and dental equipment/product sales and research. The 2-year pre-dental hygiene program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney will meet the admissions requirements at the University of Nebraska Medical Center’s College of Dentistry for an additional 2-year dental hygiene program.
