Transfer Agreements
Cyber Systems Transfer student information:
UNK and Central Community College (CCC) have an articulation agreement pursuant to the CCC Associate Science (AS) Information Technology Transfer Degree and the Bachelor of Science Degree in one of the UNK Cyber Systems major programs.
Bachelor of Science Articulation Agreements for CCC students
- BS in IT - students are interested in using information technology to help people. IT students learn web development, system administration and security, and general IT content. The Information Technology program is designed for people who want a career in a variety of IT-related areas. The only IT BS degree program of its kind in Nebraska.
- BS in Cyber Security Operations - students learn how to help businesses secure and defend their infrastructure. The program primarily focuses on technologies and techniques related to specialized cyber operations (e.g., collection,exploitation, and response) to defend the infrastructure of information systems - computers, networks, and communications. The CSO curriculum is designed to align to the standards published by the National Security Agency (NSA) for the National Centers of Academic Excellence (CAE) in Cyber Operations.
The Computer Science programs prepare students to research, design, develop, implement and maintain software
- BS in Applied Computer Science - pick a minor to complete your degree. Provides a broad foundation in software development and computer science fundamentals. Designed primarily for students who wish to seek employment after graduation.
- BS in Comprehensive Computer Science - Combines computer science with advanced mathematics. Prepares students for graduate study in Computer Science or Computer Engineering, or a career in software development or research.
The sample curriculum shown in the Applied CS and IT agreements include a minor in business administration but other minor programs would be acceptable, as long as 6-9 hours towards the minor program are taken at CCC.
The two institutions agree that if a student has been awarded the Information Technology Associate Science Degree from Central Community College then s/he:
- Will be permitted to enter with a junior class standing in a Cyber Systems program and will be able to transfer a maximum of 66 credits hours earned in the Information Technology Associate Science Degree given the following condition: Students must have earned a minimum of 58 credit hours and received a "C" or better for transfer courses.
- Will be permitted to complete all additional University of Nebraska at Kearney courses set forth through program options in the undergraduate catalog in effect at the time of their matriculation at Central Community College, as long as the Associate Science Degree is earned within three years. Otherwise, the undergraduate catalog in effect at the time of the student’s first registration for a UNK course determines degree and program requirements.*
- Will be awarded the Bachelor of Science degree from the College of Natural and Social Science at the University of Nebraska at Kearney upon the successful completion of all degree requirements.
The two institutions further agree to review the articulation agreement annually and if needed, update course information and degree requirements on or before February 15th of each year with changes effective for the following academic year.
