About the Biology Degree Program

On Campus

Students in the Biology degree program at the UNK learn how living organisms function, behave and interact, as well as how they develop, reproduce and evolve. Graduates leave the program ready to pursue careers in scientific and health-related fields, or to pursue a graduate degree.

Biology majors gain a solid foundation in biological and physical sciences and have opportunity to work one-on-one with faculty on real research projects. The biology department brings in millions of dollars in grants each year to support research, providing opportunities for undergraduate students to travel and work directly with faculty mentors.

In this program, students major in Biology and choose either a second major or a minor. Chemistry or Physics are popular parings, but students are able to choose from any program offered at UNK.
