Pedaling the Past

One of the best ways to explore local history is on a bike.

Join UNK faculty members David Vail and Will Stoutamire on an informational and enjoyable ride along a popular hike-bike trail while learning more about Kearney history.

“Pedaling the Past” takes participants from Yanney Park to Cottonmill Park and back, with several stops along the 8-mile route to discuss points of interest and the city’s early development. Riders will meet at the green gazebo that is on the Kearney trail south of the water kayak entry point (dirt parking lot) or east of the senior activity center.

“Pedaling the Past” tours are free, with a limit of 30 cyclists per three-hour session. They’re open to anyone interested in biking and local history, with each participant receiving a T-shirt.

Tour dates are:

Saturday, Sept. 22, from 9 a.m. to noon
Sunday, Sept. 30, from 1 to 4 p.m.
Saturday, Oct. 13, from 9 a.m. to noon
