Kearney Health Opportunities Program (KHOP)

The Kearney Health Opportunities Program (KHOP) is a cooperative program between the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK) and the University of Nebraska Medical Center (UNMC). The purpose of the program is to recruit and educate students from rural Nebraska who are committed to returning to rural Nebraska to practice healthcare. Recipients of this scholarship receive a full tuition scholarship to UNK and guaranteed admission to the health science program of their choice at UNMC. Competitive applicants should have strong academic potential, as well as exposure to health professions. However, the KHOP program also seeks to increase diversity in the healthcare workforce by considering the following factors during the selection process: economic disadvantage, whether the student is a first generation college student, active involvement in communities and neighborhoods where opportunities are diminished, and proficiency in languages spoken in underserved communities with healthcare needs. Applicants must be admitted to UNK and complete the KHOP Scholarship Application by December 1.
