Honors Program Scholarships

Omaha World-Herald & Kearney Hub Scholarship – November 15th
--presented by the Honors Program

Through two of our best news outlets, Omaha-World Herald and the Kearney Hub, the Honors Program offers an elite scholarship to eligible graduating high-school seniors, known as the Omaha World-Herald & Kearney Hub Scholarship (OWH & KH). This scholarship provides a fully funded college experience including tuition, housing, board, books, and university fees for four years for up to three students per year. A select group of applicants will be chosen to interview for this scholarship in January.

To apply for the OWH & KH Scholarship, students should submit their applications by November 15th. By submitting this one application with accompanying documents, students are also applying for admission to the Honors Program.

Criteria for high school seniors:

  • Grade point average of at least 3.85 -AND-
  • A minimum ACT score of 30*

*Due to hardships encountered during COVID and lack of ACT testing availability, please apply even if you have not taken the ACT. As soon as you are able to take the ACT, email your scores to honors@unk.edu

Apply for the OWH & KH Scholarship

Honors Scholarships – February 10th

The Honors Program also gives out a select number of scholarships, annually. These scholarships are highly competitive and can include a housing waiver or cash amount. To apply for the Honors Program Scholarships (not including the OWH & KH scholarship), you must complete the Honors Program Application and the Honors Scholarship section on the application by February 10th to receive full consideration.
