Communication at Emerson Elementary

Ben Myers and Tasha Dunn hung out with the Emerson Elementary 5th graders on March 13th. They helped them work on writing and delivering their science fair presentations. They had a great time, but were happy to get back to teaching college aged students.

UNK Advertising Students, Self-Defense, and Promoting Local Business

Dr. Sonja Bickford and students in the Advertising Campaigns class took a self-defense class before pitching plans for promoting the Nebraska School of Martial Arts. "'As far as I could tell, they all enjoyed it very much,' Cahill said of the training." Click here for the full article.

UNK Speech Team Heads to Nationals

First Years Darienne Blair and Jordan McCormick will be competing at the National Speech Championship on March 24-25, which isheld at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln. Darienne will bringing her Persuasive Speech and Jordan will be performing his Persuasive Speech as Dramatic Interpretation.

Sophomore Chelly Arreola and Junior Brittany Hanzlik will be traveling to Colorado College in Colorado Springs on April 6-9 for the American Forensics Association National Individual Events Tournament. Chelly qualified for Program Oral Interpretation (POI), and Brittany qualified for Informative Speech as well as Prose Interpretation for the tournament.

River Stories Media Festival - World Theatre - March 29th - 7:00 PM

The inaugural River Stories Media Festival will be held at Kearney's World Theatre on Thursday, March 29th at 7:00 PM. The free event is hosted by the UNK Department of Communication faculty Jacob Rosdail and Mary Harner and features several short films about river systems and human connections to them. Among the films being screened is Rosdail and Harner's Life on the Gila, as well as content from the Platte Basin Timelapse Project.
