Discrimination Complaint


The University of Nebraska at Kearney does not discriminate based on race, color, ethnicity, national origin, sex, pregnancy, sexual orientation, gender identity, religion, disability, age, genetic information, veteran status, marital status, and/or political affiliation in its programs, activities, or employment.  If you feel you have been subjected to discrimination based on any of these protected classes, please complete the form below.  When you click "Submit" the form will automatically be sent to UNK's Office of Equity and Compliance and you will be contacted for an interview.

This complaint form may also be used if you believe you have been retaliated against for complaining about discrimination or for participating as a witness in an investigation of another person's discrimination complaint.

Your complaint should be filed within 30 days of the alleged violation.  After the complaint is received by the Office of Equity and Compliance, an investigation, as may be appropriate, will follow.  The investigation will be informal, but thorough, and will provide all interested persons an opportunity to submit evidence relevant to the complaint.

A written determination as to the validity of the complaint and a description of the resolution, if any, will be issued by the investigator as soon as possible, but no later than 60 days after filing.  Files and records pertaining to the complaint will be kept in the Office of Equity and Compliance.

The complainant may request a reconsideration of the case in instances where he or she is dissatisfied with the resolution.  The request for reconsideration must be made within 10 working days to the UNK Chief Compliance Officer. 

These rules will be construed to protect the substantive rights of interested persons, meet appropriate due process standards, and assure that the University of Nebraska at Kearney complies will all applicable federal and state laws, and their implementing regulations.
