Students in Mass Media (SIMM), is an honorary society for collegiate mass communications, journalism, and other media. SIMM is a not-for-profit organization produced by the joining of the two honorary organizations in the fall of 2002, the chapter of The Society for Collegiate Journalists (SCJ) est. in 1975 and the chapter of The Collegiate Society of Electronic Media (TCSEM) est. 1978. The purpose of Students in Mass Media shall be to improve the quality of student mass communications, journalism, and other media at the college level.
Membership selection is based on the following criteria:
1) completed or be in the process of completing 3 hours of journalism/mass communication classes
2) maintain a 3.2 overall grade point average
3) be a major or minor in any mass communication field
4) be a full-time student, at least as a sophomore
