University of Nebraska Kearney

The Senate is the legislature of the student body. Students are elected to the Senate from each of the four colleges at the University of Nebraska - Kearney. There are also freshmen senators (in the fall), and deciding/pre-professional student senators. The Speaker is the presiding officer of the Senate. The Senate has the power to pass legislation for the campus, approves new student organizations, appoints student representatives to Faculty Senate and other administrative committees, and performs any other duties concerning student issues of concerns.   

The Senate meets at 5:30 p.m. every Tuesday* in the Cedar Room of the Nebraskan Student Union. Meetings are open for anyone to attend. Time is set aside for Public Comment, where any guest can speak directly to the Student Senate.
