An image can be added directly to a page that you are editing by uploading and inserting it all at the same time. The same can be done with other file types. However, there are times when you may want to upload a number of images (or files) into Ektron first and then insert them into a page at a later time. This can be accomplished by uploading the pictures directly into the Library section of the Ektron Workarea.
| 1) Once you have logged in to Ektron and opened the Workarea window you simply need to click on the "Library" button in the bottom-left corner of the screen. |
| |
| 2) When you enter the Library area you will see a folder navigation "tree" at the top-left of the page that should mirror the folders you normally see in the Content area. Each folder has its own set of Images, Files, Hyperlinks, Forms and Quicklinks subfolders. Thus, when uploading images you must first click on the folder in the top-left "tree" that you want to add the images to. In this example we need to click on the "website" folder, then "ektron" and finally "beginners." |
| |
3) Once you have clicked on the folder you want to add your images (or files) to, the second step is to click on the "images" folder on the right-hand side of the screen. You should then see a list of images that have already been uploaded to that folder in Ektron.
*Note: If you are uploading files rather than images (PDFs, Word documents, etc.) simply click on the "files" folder on the right-hand side rather than "images."
| |
| 4) If you have full user rights to the folder you are browsing then you should see a small "Add Image" icon at the top of the right-hand column of existing images. Click this button to begin adding your images (or files) directly to the Ektron Library. |
5) Enter a Title for your image first, then click the Browse button to find the image file you want to upload from your computer. Click once on the image in the Browse window and click the "OK" button to return to the Add Image screen. Both fields should now be filled in.
*Note: The "Preview" button at the top of this screen does not function in the current version of Ektron, the bug will be fixed in a later release.
6) Click the "Save" button at the top of the screen to upload the picture from your computer into the Ektron system. You should return to the preview list of images already uploaded in the Library. Simply repeat the steps above to continue adding more images. Once they are added to the Library they can be inserted into any of your pages at any time.
