Thompson Scholar freshmen undertake scholarly and/ or creative projects during the Spring and/ or Summer of their initial year of receiving the Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship. The program is much like the UNK Undergraduate Research Fellows program, though on a slightly smaller scale. It provides stipends to students to participate in activities and projects supervised by faculty mentors & related to their major or to an academic interest that will develop their understanding of scholarly inquiry, skills associated with research/creative project, and experience in completing their own scholarly and/ or creative project. Results from selected previous TSLC projects have been featured of UNK Research Days. Historically, several Thompson Scholars continue their projects through other outstanding undergraduate research opportunities at UNK.
