Homecoming Royalty

The winners of the Homecoming Royalty competition will be determined by popular vote. Each Royalty candidates photo is shown below. Voting will take place via student e-mail. The first round of voting will take place Thursday and Friday, September 7 & 8, 2017. Four King Candidates and Four Queen Candidates will then be announced as finalists and voted upon via student e-mail Tuesday and Wednesday, September 12 & 13, 2017.

Announcement of the Homecoming Royalty and Court will take place following the Lip Sync Competition in the Health and Sports Center Arena on Thursday, September 14 at 7:00 pm. On Saturday, September 16, the 2017 Homecoming King, Queen and Court will ride in the Homecoming Parade at 10:00 a.m. The Royalty & Court will also be introduced during half time of the Football Game vs Northwest Missouri State University.

King Finalist Bios

Alex Hart – Sigma Tau Gamma
Alex, a senior from Lynch, NE, is majoring is Sports Management with a minor in Marketing/Management.  He is the President of Sigma Tau Gamma and has been named Fraternity and Sorority Life Outstanding Chapter President. Alex has worked as UNK Football Student Equipment Manager, New Student Enrollment Leader, Student Diplomat, Loper Leader and as a Peer Mentor for the Thompson Scholar Program. He was a UNK Forensic Team-AFA National Qualifier and is a member of the Sports Administration Majors Club. Alex is also a member of Phi Eta Sigma Honor Society and has been on the Dean’s List for 6 semesters. In his spare time, he enjoys hanging out with friends, campus activities and Loper athletics.

Taylor Janicek – Student Government
Taylor, a junior from Bridgeport, NE, is the son of Todd and Tami Janicek. He is majoring in Psychology with a minor in Recreational Management. He is Senator for the College of Natural and Social Sciences, and Vice-President for FIRST Leaders and Phi Delta Theta. He also serves as Vice President of Recruitment for the Interfraternity Council.  Taylor is a member of the Men’s Project, Order of Omega and American Democracy Project.

Logan Krejdl –Pi Kappa Alpha
Logan, the son of Luey and Doug Krejdl, is a junior from Aurora, NE.  He is majoring in Finance with a minor in Sports Management. He has been involved in Student Government, Pi Kappa Alpha, The Men’s Project, Interfraternity Council and Order of Omega.  Logan has worked as a Resident Assistant and is part of the Cope Scholars, Honors Program and Chancellor’s Ambassadors. In his spare time, he likes to play volleyball, work out and jet ski.

Austin Partridge – Sigma Phi Epsilon
Austin Partridge is from Grand Island, Nebraska, and is a senior majoring in Business Administration with an emphasis in Finance. He is a member of Sigma Phi Epsilon and currently serves as the Student Body President and Student Regent for UNK. He is also a member of Honors Program, Mortar Board, and Beta Gamma Sigma.


Queen Finalist Bios

Odalys Cruz – Alpha Omicron Pi
Odalys is a senior from Schuyler, NE and is majoring in Middle Grade Education with emphasis in Mathematics and Spanish. She has served this year as recruitment chair for Alpha Omicron Pi and is currently the assistant director of St. Jude’s Up ‘Til Dawn. Odalys has been involved in many organizations through the Office of Multicultural Affairs such as Sister to Sister, Hispanic Student Association and Kearney Association for Bilingual Educators. She also enjoys volunteering in the Kearney community and working in the UNK Admissions office as a student diplomat. Odalys is a member of Kappa Delta Pi, Alpha Mu Gamma and the Mortar Board National Honor Society and has been on the Dean’s List for each of her semesters at UNK.

Kylie Kenedy – Alpha Omicron Pi
Kylie, the daughter of Bill and Linda Kenedy, is a senior from Omaha, NE.  She is majoring in Exercise Science with the goal of one day being an occupational therapist for adults with disabilities. She is a member of Alpha Omicron Pi and has served on the National Panhellenic Council as both the Vice President of Programming and Social, as well as the President. Throughout her time at UNK, Kylie has represented the AquaLopers on the varsity swim team and worked for two years in the UNK Admissions office as a Student Diplomat.

Miranda Ketteler – Loper Programming and Activities Council
Miranda is a senior from Petersburg, NE and is majoring in social work. She is involved in Phi Eta Sigma, Mortar Board, UNK Students for Life, Student Social Work Organization, Phi Alpha, the UNK Newman Center, and serves as the vice president of Loper Programming and Activities Council. She has volunteered with Loper Leaders and The Arc of Buffalo County. Miranda is a student researcher with the university, has worked as a student diplomat, and served as a peer mentor for the Susan Thompson Buffet Scholarship Program. She also had the opportunity to study abroad in the Czech Republic and is a member of the dean's list.

Ivy Prater – Alpha Phi
Ivy is a senior from Elgin, NE, majoring in Organizational Communication with a minor in Marketing and Management. Ivy currently serves as the Alpha Phi Chapter President and UNK’s Student Body Vice President. She stays active both on and off campus through The Kearney Area Friends Program, intramurals, Mortar Board, Lambda Pi Eta Communication Honor Society, Student Diplomat, Gold Torch Society Member, Order of Omega, and Phi Eta Sigma. Prater interned in Washington D.C. the past two summers and after graduation hopes to pursue a career in Grassroots and Advocacy.
