Homecoming Royalty

The winners of the Homecoming Royalty competition will be determined by popular vote. Each Royalty candidates photo is shown below. Voting will take place via student e-mail. The first round of voting will take place Tuesday and Wednesday, September 24 & 25, 2019. Four King Candidates and Four Queen Candidates will then be announced as finalists and voted upon via student e-mail Monday and Tuesday, September 30 & October 1, 2019.

Announcement of the Homecoming Royalty and Court will take place following the Lip Sync Competition in the Health and Sports Center Arena on Thursday, October 3 at 7:00 pm. On Saturday, October 5, the 2019 Homecoming King, Queen and Court will ride in the Homecoming Parade at 10:00 a.m. The Royalty & Court will also be introduced during half time of the 2:00 pm Loper Football Game vs Emporia State.

2018 King Candidates

Ryan Clark, Pi Kappa Alpha

Ryan, a senior from Kearney, is the son of Don and Wendy Clark. He is majoring in Mathematics and Business Administration, with an emphasis in Finance. He is the president of Pi Kappa Alpha fraternity, a former member of the UNK Men’s Golf Team, and a member of the UNK Honor’s Program. Ryan is an active member of Enactus, Fellowship of Christian Athletes, Math Club and Mortar Board. He is also a member of Kappa Mu Epsilon, Order of Omega and the Student Advocacy Network. His hobbies include playing sports and investing.


Jase Hueser, Student Government

Jase, the son of Joel and Lisa Hueser of Papillion, is a senior majoring in Visual Communications and Design. He is the president of International Justice Mission, Secretary of the Treasury for Student Government and is a member of the Honors Program. Jase is also active in Art Society, the American Institute for Graphic Arts, the American Advertising Federation, and the American Association of University Women. Jase says that he is 6’ 6” despite his excessive coffee intake, and has a pretty neat bowtie collection.

Tyler Nelson, Phi Delta Theta

Tyler is a senior from Lincoln majoring in Molecular Biology/Pre-Pharmacy. He is the son of Ryan and Anita Nelson. Tyler is a member of the Honors Program, Health Sciences Club, and Phi Delta Theta. He is also a member of Order of Omega, participates in Undergraduate Research, and is currently applying to medical schools.


 Oduwar Quinonez, Loper Programming & Activities Council

Oduwar, a senior from Lexington, is majoring in Elementary Education. A senior, he is the son of Isabel Rodriguez and Roemiro Quinonez. He currently serves as the Event Programming Chair for the Loper Programming and Activities Council, Secretary for Phi Delta Theta and Senior Advisor for Phi Eta Sigma National Honor Society. In addition, he is involved in the Office of Multicultural Affairs, Kappa Delta Pi, Order of Omega, Chi Alpha Epsilon and has been on the Dean’s List for each of his semesters at UNK. Oduwar has been involved with Loper Leaders, The Arc of Buffalo County, and The Big Event. He has served as a Peer Academic Leader for the Thompson Scholars Learning Community, Peer Mentor for the TRIO Program, Peer Advisor for Financial Aid, and as a New Student Enrollment Leader.


2018 Queen Candidates


Paige Kristensen, Student Government

Paige, the daughter of Doug Kristensen and Terri Harder, is a junior Business Administration and Sports Management major from Minden. She is currently serving as the Chief of Staff for Student Government and has been a senator for the College of Education and the Election Commission in previous years. She is a member of the Honors Program and Order of Omega. Paige is actively involved in Alpha Phi and serves as a Chancellor’s Student Ambassador. She has also been involved as a representative on the Student Conduct Board, Panhellenic Recruitment Counselor, and as a Student Diplomat. She recently returned from studying abroad in the Czech Republic. After graduation, Paige wants to be an athletic director on the collegiate level (even though it will be hard to be loyal to a school other than UNK). She says that a fun fact about her is that she has read during Mass at the Vatican.


McClain Narber, Alpha Phi

McClain, a senior from Phillips, is the daughter of Conn and Karen Narber. The is an Elementary Education and Special Education major with a 3.9 GPA. She is a member of Alpha Phi, Mortar Board, Student Government, and Kappa Delta Pi. McClain is also involved in Order of Omega, Loper Leaders, Special Olympics College and The Arc of Buffalo County. She currently works at Park Elementary with the KCLC program and St. Johns Nursing Home. She has also served on the Teacher Education Advisory Council and had been on the Dean’s list. McClain loves all things UNK and Loper Athletics is one of her favorite things.

Sarah Petersen, UNK Cheer Squad

Sarah, the daughter of David and Patti Petersen, is a junior Communication Disorders major from Omaha. She is the Assistant Director of New Member Education for the Alpha Phi sorority and was previously the Co-Director of Sisterhood. Sarah was previously the Panhellenic Vice President of Community Service and Philanthropy, is active in the Honors Program and is a co-leader of the Alpha Phi bible study. She was the Student Employee Rookie of the Year for her work in the Nebraskan Student Union and Student Engagement Office this past year, has been on the Dean’s List for two semesters, and is a member of Christian Student Fellowship. Recently, she was offered a spot on a NASA research grant, and she would someday like to work in a child rehabilitation facility as a speech pathologist. In her free time, Sarah likes hanging out with her triplet sisters, listening to music and spending time in the outdoors.


Anna Wegener, Loper Programming and Activities Council

Anna, the daughter of Mark and Sandy Wegener of Lindsay, is a senior Business Administration major with an emphasis in Accounting. She is the current President of LPAC, a member of the Honors Student Advisory Board, and the Honors Program, where she serves as an Honors Envoy. She is a Chancellor’s Student Ambassador, a member the National Residence Hall Honorary, Phi Eta Sigma, Beta Alpha Psi and Beta Gamma Sigma. Anna is also a member of the Catholic Newman Center, has served as a writing tutor in the Learning Commons and currently works in the Nebraskan Student Union and Student Engagement Office. She has been on the Dean’s List since her freshman year.
