Student Support Services is a federally funded TRiO program which acts as a bridge linking faculty and students. The University of Nebraska at Kearney was awarded a five-year renewable grant in 2001 to fund this program and assist its population of eligible students.
Students quality for Student Support Services if they meet one of the eligibililty requirements and have an academic need.
- First Generation: Neither parent nor Guardian(s) have earned a four-year college degree
- Income Eligible: Receiving a Pell Grant is an indicator that student meets federal income guidelines
- Student with a disability: Can document a disability that significantly interferes with academic performance
The program is funded to serve a limited number of students. Although applications are processed immediately, students may be placed on a waiting list.
- Submit a Grade Report signed by faculty each semester prior to the last day to drop a class
- Submit an Academic Plan for the next semester signed by academic advisor each semester prior to finals week
- Complete the class University Foundations unless waived by an SSS advisor
- Meet with an SSS advisor at least once each semester
