Persons must register for S.T.O.P within five (5) working days after receipt of the ticket. S.T.O.P must be completed within twenty one (21) days after receipt of the Ticket. 
NO EXCEPTIONS!
 

 

 

Minor Traffic Violations means infractions as 

provided in Neb. Rev. Stat. 60-682 

but shall not included:

 

  speeding twenty (20) or more miles per hour over the speed limit
  leaving the scene of an accident
  driving under the influence of alcoholic liquor or drugs
  reckless driving or willful reckless driving
  participating in a speed competition
  operating a motor vehicle to avoid arrest
  refusing a breath or blood test
  driving on a suspended or revoked operator's license
  operating a motor vehicle without insurance or other financial responsibility in violation of the Motor Vehicle Safety Responsibility Act
  any injury accident or any violation which is classified as a misdemeanor or a felony
  multiple violations
  careless driving
YOU ARE NOT ELIGIBLE FOR THE STOP PROGRAM IF YOU HOLD A COMMERCIAL DRIVER'S LICENSE, (even if you are driving your own personal vehicle), or if you have participated in a STOP Class in the last (3) three years.
  Eligibility requirements are the responsibility of the participant
 

If you do not wish to contest your citation.
If you have not participated in the Nebraska Safety Center
Safety Training Option Program in the last three (3) years.

STEPS FOR REGISTERING
1. Download and complete the registration form

2. Purchase a money order made out to the City of Grand Island for $76.50
3. Purchase a money order made out to the Nebraska Safety Center at UNK for $75.00
4. Make a copy of your citation and driver's license.
5. Mail the completed registration form, the copy of the citation, along with the two money orders to:

Kearney, NE 68849
ATTN: STOP PROGRAM

  2nd Saturday (8:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m.)
2nd Saturday (1:00 p.m.- 5:00 p.m.)
    4th Sunday (1:00 p.m. - 5:00 p.m.)
