The Office of Residence Life is accepting Resident Assistant applications for the 2015-2016 academic year, to begin in August 2015.

Requirements to Apply

To apply for the RA position, candidates MUST meet the following requirements:

  • Must be enrolled as a full time student at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (12 hours undergraduate, 9 hours graduate).
  • Must have at least one semester of experience in a residence hall at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.
  • Possess a cumulative grade point average of at least 2.5.
  • Be willing and able to work for the duration of the 2015-2016 academic year.
  • Be in good academic, financial, and judicial standing with the university and the Office of Residence Life.

Position Benefits

  • A single room for duration of employment, assuming that occupancy demands allow.
  • An All Access Meal Plan with 200 Dining Points when dining facilities are open.
  • Waiver of Office of Residence Life fees, including Laundry, METS, Social, and RHA.

You must have contact information for two (2) references when completing the application. One (1) must be a current Residence Life staff member (includes Resident Assistants, Graduate Hall Directors, Complex Directors, and the Assistant/Associate Director of Residence Life).

In addition to completing the RA application form, all candidates are required to submit a current resume. Resumes should be emailed to zbikowskirm@unk.edu. Candidates will receive confirmation of their resume being received within 1-2 business days.

Interview Details

The RA interview process for 2015-2016 will consist of two interviews:

First round interview: This will be a 30 minute interview and will take place between February 2-12, 2015. You will be interviewed by a Graduate Hall Director or Complex Director and current Resident Assistants. The dress for this interview is business casual attire. You will be contacted prior to February 2, 2015 to set up an interview time.

After all first round interviews have been completed, the RA Selection Committee will determine which candidates will be invited for a second round interview.

Second round interview: This will be a 30 minute interview and will take place between February 17 - March 5, 2015. You will be interviewed by a combination of Graduate Hall Directors, Complex Directors, and other Residence Life staff members. The dress for this interview is business attire. If selected for a second round interview, you will be contacted prior to February 17, 2015 to set up an interview time.

RA Information Sessions

Attendance at an RA information session is highly encouraged, but not required. An overview of the RA position, including typical duties and responsibilities, will be presented. There will also be an opportunity to have any questions answered by members of the RA Selection Committee.
