Antelope/Nester Complex
The Complex of Antelope, Nester North and Nester South are for upperclassmen (sophomore and up). Nester Hall is named in honor of former UNK Chancellor William R.
Nester who, as President of Kearney State College, led its transition to the
University of Nebraska Kearney. The The Antelope/ Nester Complex consists of
two new housing units along 9th Avenue that are joined by a walk-through breezeway
known as University View, which also serves as a lounge, study area and meeting
room. Chancellor Nester's name was suggested by many nominators and won wide
support from students and from the committee. Nester Hall opened in the fall of
2008.
Antelope Hall several nominations for its name, and the committee
suggested that this name honors our Great Plains heritage, which has
distinctively shaped the institution. Never forgetting that, the Antelope is
our institution’s mascot. Now completed, Antelope Hall houses 160 students in a
mix of two and four person suites.
Each
suite includes a kitchenette with a full sized refrigerator, microwave and
sink. Furnishings include a couch, chair, end table, kitchen island stools,
private bathrooms and a vanity area.
Each
bedroom includes an extra long bed that is lofted, a desk and chair, dresser,
closet and end table. Each unit has individual air cooling and heating
controls. Within the complex are computer labs, study rooms, TV lounges and centralized
front desks.
