The William H. Thompson Scholars Learning Community
is a shared living, learning, and mentorship experience for students who
received the Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship at the three University of Nebraska
campuses. The Buffett Foundation selects the William H. Thompson Scholars as
scholarship recipients; the Thompson Scholars Learning Community (TSLC) then
works to support & enhance the college experience of these students at UNK.
Our vision is to help Thompson Scholars live, learn, connect, and succeed at
UNK.
While the Thompson Scholars Learning Community
Program focuses primarily on freshmen who share their living and learning
experience, the TSLC Program also serves UNK sophomores, juniors and seniors
who receive the Susan Thompson Buffett Scholarship. The TSLC Staff provides
support and resources to students so that they can achieve academic success,
engage in campus life, and graduate from college. Outside of the TSLC Program, all
Thompson Scholars are also invited to participate in the student-led group
Thompson Scholars United (TSU) which helps all Thompson Scholars stay connected
at UNK.
The Thompson Scholars Learning Community is sponsored by the Office of Graduate Studies and Research. For more information, about the UNK Thompson Scholars Program, please contact the TSLC office at (308) 865-8364 or tslc@unk.edu
