Feel At Home on a Safe Campus
As a parent, there is no single more important question to ask during the college search process than: “Will my child be safe?” Talk to UNK students, or their parents for that matter, when you visit us and they’ll most likely tell you that the reason they chose to come here, above all, is that it felt like a safe, community-centered environment they could call “home”.
The Department of Public Safety at UNK is a highly effective and efficient department, largely because of the close interaction and open lines of communication it has with the University as a whole. The Department offers a full range of police, parking, and hazmat/safety resources, and is at work around the clock to ensure a safe environment for the entire UNK campus community.
The police division of the Department of Public Safety consists of more than a dozen full- and part-time officers who conduct area patrols; enforce federal, state, and local law, as well as UNK policies; and coordinate crime prevention programs.
