- How many are there?
- What are they wearing?

- Do you hear explosions?
- Do you hear gunfire?
- Did you see weapons? Describe them and how many
- Lock and barricade doors
- Turn off the lights
- Close blinds and block windows
- Turn off radios, monitors, silence cell phones
- Stay out of sight and keep others calm and quiet
- Heavy desks, concrete walls may protect you from bullets
- When it is safe, write HELP in large letters to put in exterior windows as a sign to let officers know where you are
- Be patient, do not leave until directed to do so by Law Enforcement. The silence may be the shooter looking for a target.
- A shooter will not stop shooting until they are engaged by Law Enforcement or are out of ammo.
- Rescue attempts can be made only when it is safe to do so.
- Objective is to evacuate victims
- Facilitate follow up medical care, interviews and counseling
