There is a loan rehabilitation program available to eligible defaulted Perkins loan borrowers. Restrictions apply. To successfully rehabilitate a defaulted loan, the borrower must make nine, on time, consecutive monthly payments in an amount determined by University of Nebraska at Kearney.
Rehabilitation Benefits
- The default will be removed from your credit history
- You will qualify for the benefits and privileges of your original promissory note
- Restoration of Title IV eligibility
A borrower may rehabilitate a loan only once, but there is no limit to the number of times a borrower may attempt to make nine consecutive, on time monthly payments.
In order to pursue rehabilitation you must make the request to University of Nebraska at Kearney Perkins Loans.
