Diversity Program of the Year
The Diversity Program of the Year recognizes a diversity program sponsored by a student organization at UNK that allowed a broad range of participants to experience and learn about diversity. The program will have a focus on developing understanding, tolerance, and acceptance.
The program receiving this award was new to UNK’s campus during the 2013 academic year. The purpose of the event was to bring an awareness of the Native American culture to the student populous at the University. Participants were able to compete in a series of games; these activities were both mentally and physically challenging. In addition, the activities were interactive, fun, and educational which empowered participants to have a more in-depth appreciation and understanding for the Native American culture.
The Diversity Program of the Year for 2013 is awarded to the Student Kouncil of Intertribal Nations for their Native Games event.
Members of Collegians for Integration and Accessibility with Jordan Gonzales, 2012 Student Body President; and Joseph Oravecz, Dean, Division of Student Affairs.
