The Office of Student Life advances the mission of the Division of Student Affairs, and by extension the University of Nebraska at Kearney, by promoting student involvement, learning, and personal growth. Our office collaborates across the University to implement innovative and student-centered programs, practices, and services to support student success. Learning goes beyond the classroom.

Associated Students of the University of Nebraska at Kearney (Student Government) Logo 

Our students play a major role in ensuring that the Kearney experience is something you’ll never forget. Here, you will find extraordinary access to shaping the University and its culture through involvement in student government. At the University of Nebraska at Kearney, our student government is highly involved in all aspects of University governance, and has the administration’s keen ear on a wide range of issues regarding student life, academics, and University policy.  

 

Loper Programming and Activities Council (LPAC) 

Loper Programming and LPAC logo 2012Activities Council (LPAC) is regarded as the number one programing source on campus at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. With extensive resources and enthusiastic student members, LPAC is truly dedicated to programming for students, by the students. LPAC events range from hypnotist Jim Wand, who will be returning for his 25th year, to spectacular concerts with performances by Julie Roberts, Chris Cagle, Lit, Secondhand Serenade, The Red Jumpsuit Apparatus, and most recently, The All American Rejects. These events are a great way to take a break from studying, catch up with friends or enjoy an event that is affordable; a vast majority of these fun events are free. LPAC is an active and respected organization at UNK that brings exciting and prominent events to campus for students to enjoy. LPAC is also in charge of producing many annual events that UNK students have come to love such as Blue and Gold Days, Fame Talent Show, Homecoming and the Fun5k. 

   

Chancellor's Student AmbassadorsLogo

The Chancellor’s Student Ambassadors are exemplary, gregarious members of the student body.  They represent their peers at campus functions and assist in hosting special events planned by the Office of the Chancellor.  Ambassadors also facilitate commencement ceremonies. Students serving as an Ambassador are frequently asked to welcome university guests and to share their student experience at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  

  

Spirit Squad (Cheer and Dance)

The University of Nebraska at Kearney Spirit Squad is comprised of the Cheerleading Squad and the Sapphires Dance Team.  First and foremost, members of the Spirit Squad must be persons of the highest integrity and exemplary representatives of the University of Nebraska at Kearney.   

 The University of Nebraska at Kearney Spirit Squad Program strives to support its squad members’ academic careers and  develop the individuals into responsible, mature, and independent adults.  The program is a means of improving the student’s mental and physical well being.  The Spirit Squad is a team where the student (1) will be provided leadership opportunities; (2) will develop the ability to make good decisions; (3) will enhance the ability to respond to life’s situations; (4) will contribute to social development, (e.g. awareness of one’s self), the development of self confidence, development of interpersonal relationships; and (5) generally will maximize the opportunity for the student athlete.
