Located in the east end of the Nebraskan Student Union, the Office of Multicultural Affairs and Multicultural Center are places where students from diverse backgrounds can come together to plan events and raise cultural awareness on campus. There is a study area, computer bar, lounge, and student organization offices to give all students a place to meet, study, relax, and plan events.
The main mission of the office is recruitment and retention of all multicultural students: African American, Asian American, Native American, and students of Hispanic heritage through programs sponsored by the office and its student organizations. These programs include, but are not limited to: new student orientation; cultural celebrations; one-on-one, career, and group mentoring; leadership development, academic advising, and scholarship information. In keeping with the mission of the University, this office promotes awareness of all cultures and fosters the development and educational opportunities of all people regardless of national origin or ethnic heritage.
