Anti-Spam Tips

Spam is unsolicited commercial email that is also referred to as junk mail. Spam is sometimes generated by viruses or “spammers” that send email messages to a large number of mailing lists or newsgroups usually to advertise something.

There are several ways to combat Spam:

  • Make sure you are using up-to-date Anti-virus software on your computer.
  • Do NOT click on the REMOVE link "spammers" add to their emails. This will verify your email address as valid and your address will be added to the list and sold to more spammers.
  • Never reply to spam messages. Often the instructions are either bogus or a way to collect more addresses. Replying confirms your email address is active to the spammers which may result in more junk mail.

By following the above suggestions Spam will be manageable on both the Mac and PC.
