Put UNK in Your Pocket!
April 5, 2012 : The University of Nebraska Kearney campus
community and the public can now get the latest UNK news and information via an
iPhone®, iPad®, iPod Touch® or Android™ device by downloading the free new UNK Mobile app.
“UNK Mobile is
awesome! It will serve as an amazing tool for connecting students to the
various entities encompassed within the University. Additionally, UNK
Mobile will give students the opportunity to connect to campus in a
more convenient and efficient manner. I am ecstatic about the possibilities to
come and the continued development of similar programs.” said Cameron Deter,
UNK Student Body President and UN Regent.
The
UNK Mobile app includes extensive information about UNK, including
Blackboard, Library, campus map, news, events, videos, and emergency
numbers. The Blackboard Learn module allows students and
instructors to view announcements, participate in discussions boards, update
blogs and journals, and check grades. UNK has been working with Blackboard Inc.
to develop the application, which is now available by searching UNK Mobile
or University Nebraska Kearney in the Apple App Store or Android
Marketplace.
"This
was a project that moved on a very fast timetable, but we were able to pack a
lot of features into this first version. Plus, we're already thinking about
things we can add when we do an update," said Deb Schroeder, ITS CIO.
UNK is excited to make this app available for our students, potential students,
alumni, visitors and others.
