How do I receive my UNK Card? 

New students will typically receive their UNK Card during the one day summer advising and enrollment. Other students who are enrolled at UNK may obtain their UNK Card by coming to the UNK Card Office located in the Nebraskan Student Union, Room 148 and providing proper identification.

Name changes must be changed on your student and/or personnel record before a new UNK Card can be issued. The document must contain a photograph. The name that appears on the document must match the name that is on your student record.

You must appear in person to obtain your identification card. We will issue the card only to you and no one else. UNK Cards are not sent through campus mail.

New employees may receive their UNK Card after they have been entered as an active employee in the SAP Human Resources system. Your employee information will appear in the UNK Card system the next business day after being entered into SAP. You may contact the UNK Card Office (308-865-8154) to verify that the information has been downloaded to the UNK card system.

Affiliates may receive their UNK Card by presenting an authorized Affiliate UNK ID Card Request form issued by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance. Affiliate UNK Cards include an expiration date approved by the VCBF. To renew an affiliate card, you must present a new authorized Affiliate UNK Card Request form issued by the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Business and Finance.

Name Badges worn in a visible location are sometimes required for employees in certain departments, student ambassadors, etc. If you are required to wear a name badge, you have the option of requesting a second UNK Card to serve as a name badge only. The magnetic stripe will not be activated and the bar code will not be printed on the back of these cards thereby making them ineffective in any campus card reader. The UNK Card Office reserves the right to request verification from the employee’s or student’s supervisor regarding the requirement that they must wear a name badge.

Photogragh 

Your card includes a digital photograph taken against a blue background for students, gold background for employees and a white background for affiliates. Hats, scarves, bandanas, headbands and sunglasses must be removed for the photograph, except for items that must be worn for religious reasons.

Since the primary purpose of your card is to serve as a form of identification, when replacing a card, we are required to retake your photograph if the previous photo is older than one year.

Replacement Card 

Name changes must be changed on your student or personnel record before a new UNK Card can be issued.

Then bring your old card to the UNK Card Office and a new card will be created for you. There is no charge if you return your old card. If you do not return your old card, it is considered "Lost" and you must pay for a replacement.

For Replacement of Damaged, Lost or Stolen cards bring $5 (cash or personal check made out to University of Nebraska at Kearney) to the UNK Card Office. Also bring a valid driver's license, a government-issued I.D., a military I.D., or a passport. We will print a replacement card and deactivate your old card.
