Q: Do I NEED to get a UNK Card? A: Yes. Students, faculty, and staff must obtain a UNK Card. You should carry your UNK Card with you at all times. Present the UNK Card for access to a variety of services and for off hours entrance to campus buildings.

Q: What do I need to bring with me to get a UNK Card? A: You must show a valid driver's license, a government-issued I.D., a military I.D., or a passport in order to obtain a UNK Card. The document must contain a photograph. New employees may receive their UNK Card after they have been entered as an active employee in the SAP Human Resources system.

Q: Is there a charge for UNK Card? A: The first UNK Card received is issued at no charge. Subsequent UNK Cards that are lost, stolen, or damaged will be replaced for a $5 fee.

Q: Do I have to activate all the different features on my UNK Card (Loper Dollars, banking, etc.)? A: Loper Dollars and the banking option are optional. You may choose to activate only the features you want.

Q: My card has been lost and/or stolen. How can I protect my funds? A: Lost or stolen cards must be immediately deactivated, click on "report a lost or stolen card". Once your card has been deactivated, the funds on your lost or stolen card will be placed on hold until you receive a replacement UNK Card. The funds on hold will be transferred to the new UNK card. The lost or stolen card will no longer be valid.

Loper Dollars Questions:

Q: What are Loper Dollars? A: Loper Dollars is a declining balance program that helps to provide a safer campus environment by minimizing the need to carry and use cash for daily expenses. Loper Dollars is an on-campus debit system administered by UNK and is not affiliated with any financial institution. You deposit money into your Loper Dollars account which creates a prepaid declining balance service. Each time you make a purchase, the purchase amount is subtracted from your Loper Dollars balance. Loper Dollars account balances do not earn interest. Loper Dollars carry over from semester to semester.

Q: Where can I use Loper Dollars? A: Cardholders can use Loper Dollars at many on-campus locations including:   All on-campus dining locations, the Antelope Bookstore, vending machines, select copiers and printers, select laundry locations, library fines,  and UNK Connections. 

Q: If I run out of Loper Dollars will the money be taken from my Wells Fargo account if I have that option? A: No, the money will not be taken out of your Wells Fargo bank account if you run out of Loper Dollars. You would be told what the remaining balance of your purchase is and then you can decide what funds to use to pay your balance.

Q: What are the benefits of using Loper Dollars? A: There are many benefits to using Loper Dollars:

  • Loper Dollars does not charge interest or overdraft fees, and is a superior financial tool for students who live, work, and play in the campus area.
  • Loper Dollars give you many opportunities to win with our "Swipe and Win" contests.
  • Loper Dollars are quicker than using cash, check or credit cards.

Q: How can I activate my Loper Dollars account? A: All cardholders are required to sign a terms and conditions agreement when they receive their UNK Card.  Cardholders under 18 years of age must also have a parent sign.  Once the agreement is signed, all you need to do to activate your Loper Dollars account is simply deposit money and begin using your Loper Dollars.

Q: How do my parents or I add funds to my Loper Dollars account? A: It is easy to add money to your Loper Dollars account:

  • Make a Deposit On-line (MasterCard or Visa accepted), your parents must have your NU ID number and password
  • Use cash, check, MasterCard or Visa at the Finance Office.
  • Use the deposit stations located in the Calvin T Ryan Library Internet Café and in front of Outtakes C-store. It will take $1, $5, $10 and $20 dollar bills.

Q: Does Loper Dollars carry over? A: Loper Dollars funds carry over from semester to semester and from year to year as long as you are a current student or employee.

Q: Can I use my meal plan points as Loper Dollars? A: No. Your UNK Card has two separate accounts. Loper Dollars can be used in vending, and copy machines as well as at the Antelope Bookstore and all dining locations on campus. Whereas meal plan points are restricted to food service locations only.

Q: I’ve lost my UNK Card. What happens to the funds in my Loper Dollars account? A: Lost or stolen cards must be immediately deactivated, click on "report a lost or stolen card". Once your card has been deactivated, the funds on your lost or stolen card will be placed on hold until you receive a replacement UNK Card. The funds on hold will be transferred to the new UNK card. The lost or stolen card will no longer be valid.

Banking Questions:

Q: Can I use my UNK Card as an ATM/Debit card? A: Yes.  If you open a new Wells Fargo College Checking® account, or have an existing Wells Fargo checking account, you can link your UNK Card to your checking account for banking functionality.  You can then use your UNK Card to make purchases anywhere Visa® debit cards are accepted and for free access to cash at Wells Fargo ATMs nationwide.

Q: Is Wells Fargo Bank the only bank participating in the UNK Card program? A: Yes, Wells Fargo Bank is the exclusive banking institution for the UNK Campus Card Program.

Q: Will I be charged a fee when I use my UNK Card (with the banking option) in an ATM?  A: If you have the enhanced UNK Card (with the banking option), you will have free access to cash at Wells Fargo ATMs nationwide, including the on-campus Wells Fargo ATM in the Student Union.
