Saturday at the Frank House Upcoming Programs
Hour- long events begin at 1:30 p.m. and are free and open to the public.
October 19th- Historic Homes Book Talk: Brian Whetstone and Jessie Harris lead a discussion about the writing process for their upcoming book, Images of America: Kearney's Historic Homes.
October 26th- Phantoms at the Frank House: Children of all ages are invited to the house dressed in Halloween garb to listen to spooky stories, decorate cookies, and trick or treat from room to room of the historic mansion!
November 9th- Chamber Orchestra Recital: UNK's chamber ensemble directed by Dr. Freedman will fill the house with music!
November 23rd- The Rhythm Boys of Omaha Central: Claude Louishomme will lead a presentation focusing on race relations and high school basketball of the 1960s in Omaha, NE.
November 30th: CLOSED due to Thanksgiving Break
December 7th- Violin and Viola Studio Recital: Dr. Chen of UNK's Fine Arts Department will lead her students in a musical recital.
December 14th- Loper Low Brass Christmas Concert: Seth Fletcher directs his students for a seasonal concert.
December 21st- Holiday House Tours: See the Frank House all decked out in its holiday glory! Tours begin at 5:00 p.m. and continue until 7:00 p.m.
June 28th- December 21st- The Lincoln Highway: A View From the Veranda: The Frank House is displaying a collection of 19 black and white photographs depicting the historic home and surrounding area during the construction of the Lincoln Highway. Developed and researched by Paul Skinner and Brian Whetstone, the exhibit chronicles the evolution of the Frank House, or "the Stone House" as it was called during the period, from private residence to nurses' home for the Nebraska State Tuberculosis Hospital. featured in the exhibit are works by Kearney photographers Alfred t. Anderson, John Stryker, and Solomon Butcher, the latter famous for his chronicling of homesteading in Nebraska. Accompanying the images are brief captions about the era.
