CHAUNCEY & ALICE ASHER MEMORIAL
This scholarship shall be awarded to students enrolled in any college at UNK.  Recipients must be graduates of Pleasanton Nebraska High School, demonstrate a strong desire to learn and a willingness to complete their degree.  Recipients must also demonstrate financial need.

ALPHA TAU OMEGA/DON BRIGGS
Established to help support students of UNK.  It shall be awarded to members of Alpha Tau Omega, Zeta Upsilon Chapter, enrolled in any College of UNK.  Recipients shall be selected by the Alumni Board of the Zeta Upsilon Chapter of Alpha Tau Omega, or other such committee as appointed by same.  Recipients must be an active member of the Zeta Upsilon Chapter in good standing.  Recipients shall be determined by the following criteria: Leadership Qualities--based on a high standard of integrity, fraternal involvement, campus involvement, character and other such qualities as exemplified by the recipient; Scholarship--minimum GPA considered for applicants will be that of one at least equal to or above the local active chapter GPA, with more preference given to the student with a higher GPA.  Need--the Alumni Board shall consider need, although it should not be the determining factor.  Scholarships 
awarded are for second semester. 

ALUMNI ASSOCIATION AWARD
Established by the UNK Alumni Association to provide financial assistance to a junior or senior student.  Eligible students must be 
enrolled full-time and must be the son or daughter of a UNK graduate. 

ASSOCIATED WOMEN STUDENTS
Established by the Associated Women 
Students Organization to provide financial assistance to a junior or senior female student. 

WILLIAM AND VERNA BARNEY 
This scholarship shall be awarded to a          full-time, undergraduate, sophomore or 
above with a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Financial need will be considered. 

DIANE G. BARR MEMORIAL 
This scholarship is awarded to part-time, non-traditional undergraduate students.  It is preferred that the recipient be the non-married parent of dependent children.

KATHRYN V. BOWEN                                                  This scholarship shall be awarded to one or more UNK undergraduate students who have freshman class standing and a 3.0 or above GPA.  Preference shall be given to candidates who graduated from Red Cloud, Nebraska High School.  Second preference shall go to candidates who graduated from Blue Hill, Nebraska High School.

ERNA E. BRISCH
Established to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students at UNK.

CASE HALL
Established by the resident government of 
Case Hall, this scholarship is awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior student.  The recipient must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or better. 

CASEY-PRICE
This scholarship is available to undergraduates enrolled full-time with sophomore class standing.  A cumulative grade point average of 3.0 is required. 

RON COPE UNK COLLEGE REPUBLICANS MEMORIAL
This scholarship shall be awarded to full-time undergraduate students who are active members of the UNK College Republicans.  Candidates shall be sophomore status or above, have a 2.8 or above GPA, and have graduated from a Nebraska high school.

JAMES M. COX FOUNDATION
The preference for this scholarship is that the recipient should be a resident of York or Hamilton Counties.  If there are no candidates who meet this requirement, preference then goes to students from the eastern third of Nebraska.  The recipient must have a minimum grade point average of 2.5 and must demonstrate financial need.

KAY F. CRAWFORD 
Established by a gift from the estate of Kay 
F. Crawford, this scholarship will be awarded to a student with a physical disability. 

JOHN M. CRONIN RODEO
Established in memory of John M. Cronin. 
This scholarship will be awarded to a UNK student who is a member of the Rodeo Club/Team and has a minimum 3.0 GPA.  The student need not compete to be granted the scholarship.  Among the criteria to be considered are past and future potential of academic achievement and professional accomplishments as well as the qualities of leadership, sportsmanship, and honor. 

GEORGE A. CROSSCUP
Established by a gift from the estate of Estella Pearl Crosscup in memory of George A. Crosscup, this scholarship will be awarded to a UNK student whose primary residence is in Buffalo County.  Preference will be given to those students with farm backgrounds and who demonstrate financial need. 

FACULTY WIVES SCHOLARSHIP
Recipient must be the dependent of a member of the UNK faculty or staff.  

GEORGE AND VERDA FAIRFIELD
Established to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students at UNK.  Preference will be given to graduates of these Nebraska schools: Kearney High School, Pleasanton High School, and graduates of Litchfield or Ansley High Schools who previously attended elementary and/or junior high school in Mason City, Nebraska.  Recipients' participation in school activities and extracurricular activities will be taken into consideration.  Financial need may be considered in making this award. 

FAY W. FULLER
Established by the friends and family of Fay
W. Fuller to provide financial assistance to
students who are residents of either Custer
or Logan counties in Nebraska.  Selection
will be based on scholarship and financial
need. 

GRADUATE DEANS SCHOLARSHIP 
This scholarship is awarded to students enrolled in or admitted to the Graduate College for at least six credit hours for both semesters.  Minimum cumulative grade point average of 3.5 required.  In addition to grade point average, involvement in extra and co-curricular activities will be used in selecting recipients. Applicants are required to write a brief essay outlining their goals and an explanation as to the reason they should be selected to receive this award.

BRIAN HAMMOND MEMORIAL
Established to provide financial assistance to one or more students enrolled in any college at UNK, and who have a freshman class standing or above.  Recipient must be a first year pledge of the Delta Tau Delta Fraternity, UNK, and have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above.

JOHN P. HELLEBERG, SR. SCHOLARSHIP 
Established in memory of John P. Helleberg,
Sr., this scholarship is to provide financial assistance to full-time undergraduate students at UNK. 

ALICE M. & DICK M. HOCK SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship shall be awarded to full-time students.  Recipients must have junior or senior class standing, a minimum 2.8 GPA, graduated from a Nebraska high school, and have exhibited good moral character and citizenship.  Preference shall be given to candidates who are members of Fellowship 
of Christian Athletes or any other campus ministry organization (i.e. Campus Crusade 
for Christ, Christian Student Fellowship, 
United Campus Ministries). 

DONALD & LELA HOLM SCHOLARSHIP: 
Established to aid graduating Seniors or
former graduates of Elm Creek High School who have chosen to attend UNK.  Recipients will be selected based on financial need rather than upon the academic standing of the student or their performance on achievement tests.  Applications are available at the UNK Office of Financial Aid and the Elm Creek High School.  The scholarship may be renewed for 
two additional years. 

PAT IMMING MEMORIAL
Established by the friends and family of Pat
Imming to provide financial assistance to an
upperclass student who has demonstrated the determination required to overcome an
obvious and severe physical disability. 

ELEANOR & MARIAN JOHNSON
This scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student.  Preference will be given to a student who graduated from a Missouri high school. 

WILLIAM F. AND JEAN A. JOHNSON
Established by Mr. & Mrs. William F. Johnson to provide financial assistance to a graduate of a Kimball County high school and a full-time undergraduate at UNK.  Selection will be based upon academic achievement. 

RICHARD F. & MARILYN R. JUSSEL
This scholarship is established to provide
financial assistance to full-time students participating in the Honors Program. Recipients shall be junior or senior students, have a minimum of 3.5 GPA, be in good standing of the Honors Program, and shall fulfill all course requirements as outlined in the Honors Program.  Recipients shall be recommended by the Honors Council to the Office of Financial Aid. 

KEARNEY NOON KIWANIS CLUB
This scholarship will be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior student.  The recipient must have a minimum 2.5 GPA and must be a member of the Circle K Club. 

PEGGY (ROBINSON) & MICHAEL KELLEY
Established to assist students of UNK. 
Special consideration shall be given to students with any of the following attributes: graduates of Holdrege High School, graduates of Millard North High School, affiliated with Alpha Omicron Pi Sorority, or majoring in Accounting.  Selection will be based on financial need and consideration will be given to students who are academically eligible but may be financially restrained from continuing their education. 

MR. & MRS. W. O. KING 
Established by Mr. & Mrs. King to provide financial assistance to undergraduate students who are sons or daughters of residents of Buffalo County. 

KOTSIOPULOS FAMILY 
This scholarship shall be awarded to full-time, undergraduate students who are sophomores or above with a GPA of 3.0 or above. 

SONYA AND JOSEPH LANDHOLM
Recipient shall be an undergraduate, non-traditional student with demonstrated need.  It is the donor's intention to use this scholarship to provide opportunity for students who have delayed attending college.  Enrollment of at least six credits per semester is required. 

LANDMESSER/MURPHY MEMORIAL
Established to provide financial assistance to a full-time male student at UNK.  Selection criteria include being a junior or senior, 
financial need, a member of ATO Fraternity, and having held an office in the UNK ATO Chapter.

SENA "MOM" LANG MEMORIAL
This scholarship is established in memory of Sena Lang, a former house-mom of Men's 
Hall.  Recipients shall have sophomore, junior, or senior class standing, a minimum 3.0 GPA, have graduated from a Nebraska high school, and will be a Resident Assistant for the academic year.  Financial need shall be a consideration, however it shall not be the determining factor. 

THELMA D'ALLEMAND LANG
This scholarship shall be awarded to undergraduate students with a GPA of 3.5 or above. Preference is given to graduates of Litchfield or Ravenna High School. 

MATTIE M. LARSEN
Established by the estate of Mattie Larsen, 
this scholarship will be awarded to a worthy student from Custer or Logan Counties. 

EARL K. LARSON, SR. 
This scholarship, created to commemorate 
the life of Earl Larson, will be awarded to students enrolled at any University of 
Nebraska campus.  Recipients must be either  a native Nebraskan or have resided in Nebraska for the majority of his or her lifetime, have demonstrated financial need, show a minimum 2.0 GPA, do not have a record of felony convictions, and are making satisfactory progress toward obtaining an undergraduate degree.

DAVE & TANCIE MARTIN
This scholarship will be awarded to two outstanding upperclass students at UNK with a minimum 2.4 GPA.  Selection will be based upon scholarship, participation in campus activities, and financial need.  The recipients are not to be student-athletes. 

JEROME K. AND TWILA K. MARTIN
Recipients of this scholarship shall have demonstrated financial need and have freshman class standing or above. 

HAGGART FAMILY
This scholarship shall be awarded to a UNK undergraduate student enrolled full-time. Preference shall be given to candidates who are graduates of St. Paul HS, St. Paul, NE. Second preference shall be given to graduates of any high school located in Howard County, NE. If no candidates meet either of these criteria, preference shall be given to candidates who have graduated from any Nebraska high school.

H.J. LIVINGSTON RURAL NEBRASKA
This scholarship was established to commemorate the life of H.J. Livingston and to honor his Western Nebraska Heritage and love of education. Candidates must be full-time regularly enrolled students pursuing degrees at UNK. Recipients shall have a sophomore or above class standing and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Candidates shall be graduates of a public high school from western Nebraska. Preference shall be given to candidates who are active participants in University activities and to those students who have demonstrated financial need; however this shall not be a controlling criterion. This scholarship is renewable upon application; recipient must keep a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher.

NEW MEXICANS FOR NEBRASKA 
Established to provide financial assistance to a full-time undergraduate student enrolled at any campus of the University of Nebraska.  The recipient will be either an incoming freshman or returning undergraduate student, with preference given to incoming freshmen.  The recipient will have a minimum 2.75 GPA. Preference will be given to graduates of New Mexico high schools.  High academic standing will be a criterion in making this award. Scholarships will be for one academic year only. 

NORTH TEXAS ALUMNI
Recipients of this scholarship should be       full-time undergraduate students at any campus within the University of Nebraska system.  A minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required.  Preference is given to students with demonstrated need.  Preference is also given to the sons and daughters of a member of the North Texas Nebraska Alumni Association.  Recipients or their parents shall have a permanent residence within a 150-mile radius of the Dallas-Forth Worth, Texas metroplex. 

NORTHERN CALIFORNIA 
ALUMNI ASSOCIATION 
Established by the Northern California Alumni Association to help support students of UNK. The Northern California Alumni Association may make recommendations.  Recipients must have a student classification of sophomore or above, and be classified as a full-time student. Selection criteria considered are past academic achievement and demonstration of potential for future academic and professional accomplishments.  Financial need may be considered, however, it should not be a determinant factor. 

NORTHERN CALIFORNIANS FOR NEBRASKA
Established to provide financial assistance to one or more Northern California students at any University of Nebraska campus.  The recipient can be an incoming freshman.  Eligible applicants must be from a county that is from Kern County northward.  First preference in awarding the scholarship will be given to those students who previously held the scholarship and have maintained a minimum 3.0 GPA. Second preference will be given to those students recommended for consideration by Northern Californians for Nebraska.  Third preference will be given to those students selected from applications received for scholarship support at any University of Nebraska campus.  Fourth preference will be given to any other eligible students at any University of Nebraska campus.  A letter of application for incoming freshmen to UNK who wish to apply must be received by March 3 in the Office of Financial Aid.  Students currently enrolled at UNK must complete the UNK annual and endowed scholarship application each spring. 

MR. & MRS. RALPH NYLANDER
Established through a bequest in the will of the late Mrs. Nylander, this scholarship will be awarded to one or more UNK students who are residents of Phelps County, Nebraska.  The recipients must have been residents of Phelps County at the time of graduation from high school.  Selection will be based upon financial need.  Applications are available from Phelps County high schools or the UNK Office of Financial Aid.

OFFICE/SERVICE DEPENDENTS'
Established to help a dependent of a permanent full-time UNK Office/Service worker employed during the academic term the scholarship is used.  The definition of dependent will follow the same guidelines covering the Spouse/Dependent waiver.  The recipient must be an undergraduate, upperclass student having completed 28 or more hours, working towards a degree, and having declared a major in one of the colleges.  The student must be maintaining the minimum cumulative GPA required for graduation from that college.  Along with academic performance, assessment of the student's need for assistance will be taken into consideration in the awarding, as well as extracurricular activities and work experience. 

MAJOR CARL R. OLSON MEMORIAL 
This scholarship, given in memory of Carl R. Olson, will be awarded to full-time undergraduate students attending any University of Nebraska campus.  Recipients shall have graduated from Burwell High School, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Financial need shall be considered. 

MR. & MRS. FOSTER O'QUINN MEMORIAL
Established by the family of Mr. & Mrs. Foster O'Quinn, this scholarship will be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior student who has demonstrated leadership abilities and has been involved with campus activities.  Eligible students must have a minimum 2.8 GPA.  Need shall be a consideration, but not a qualification. 

CHARTWELLS DINING SERVICE 
Established to provide financial assistance to a student employee of PFM.  To be eligible, students must have completed twenty-four credit hours during the previous year, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and have worked an average of 12 hours a week in Food Services the previous year.  Selection criteria considered include past academic achievement, job performance with PFM/Chartwell's, and potential for future academic and professional accomplishments.  Although financial need may be considered, it should not be the determinant factor. 

PHI TAU GAMMA
Established by Alpha Tau Omega (ATO) to help support UNK students, the recipient 
must be a son, daughter, grandson, or granddaughter of a member of a Phi Tau Gamma Alumni (1915-1965) who is a full-time student with a "B" or better cumulative GPA. The recipient will be selected by the ATO Alumni Board.  Financial need may be considered, but will not be the determining factor in the selection.  The scholarship is for second semester. 

RESIDENCE HALL SCHOLARSHIPS

RHA 
These scholarships were established to help support residence hall students of UNK. Scholarships will be awarded to sophomore, junior, or senior students who reside in a residence hall and will be returning to the residence hall system for the following semester.  Selection will be based on participation and positive contribution to the residence hall community.  The recipients must have a minimum 2.5 GPA.  Individuals must apply for their respective hall scholarship where they currently reside and/or to the Residence Hall Association scholarship. 

SEVERA & BAUMFALKSCHOLARSHIP
Established by Mayme & Steve Severa and Irene & Robert Baumfalk, this scholarship will be awarded to a full-time undergraduate 
student.  Recipients must have graduated from Beatrice High School and attended St. Joseph Catholic School and/or Paddock Lane 
Elementary School in Beatrice, NE. 

SIGMA TAU GAMMA SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship will be awarded to a current, active member of Sigma Tau Gamma who has been active in the chapter for at least one semester using the following criteria: 75% total attendance without excuses, minimum 2.5 GPA, involvement, financial need, work load, and class load.  May be renewable every other  year.  Applications are available from the fraternity scholarship chair. 

SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA ALUMNI ASSOCIATION
Established to help support students of UNK. Recipients must have a student classification of a sophomore or above and be classified as a full-time student. 

TEXAS ALUMNI
Preference to Texas high school graduate, minimum GPA 3.0.  Candidates shall have demonstrated involvement and leadership in campus activities.  Second preference shall be given to non-Texas graduate who meets all other criteria.

EMMA BUTZ TIDBALL & 
RILEY MCMILLAN TIDBALL 
Established to assist students with high financial need who in their previous UNK studies or in the case of students entering UNK by their records in high school or preparatory schools, have demonstrated scholastic attainment and worthiness of character and purpose. 
Preference will be given to students who 
without this assistance might, because of physical handicaps or lack of ordinary health, be unable to work their way through college 
and in the absence of such assistance might be deprived of a college education.

ARTHUR AND EFFIE TYSON FARLEY
Awarded to any sophomore, junior or senior who has graduated from Broken Bow High School in Broken Bow, NE. 

UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA AT KEARNEY EDUCATION ASSOCIATION UNDERGRADUATE ACADEMIC SCHOLARSHIP
The recipient of this scholarship must be the child of a UNKEA member who is employed during the academic term for which the scholarship is awarded.  The recipient must have a minimum of 12 completed credit hours and a minimum grade point average of 2.5.  Full-time enrollment is required during the semesters in which the scholarship is awarded to the student.  In addition to academic performance, financial need and participation in extracurricular activities may be considered in awarding this scholarship.

VIETNAM VETERANS
This scholarship shall be awarded to 
descendants of U.S. Armed Service Veterans, preferably of the Vietnam War.  Applicants must provide documentation showing they are a descendant. 

MILTON G. WALDBAUM
The scholarship will be awarded to an undergraduate student at UNK.  The recipient must be a child or a grandchild of a person employed by the Milton G. Waldbaum Company, of Wakefield, Nebraska, for a continuous two year period during the years 1950 through 1988, inclusive.  If there are no eligible candidates in the above category, the scholarship may be awarded to an otherwise qualified applicant who is a resident of Wakefield, Nebraska.  Must be a student in good standing, pursuing a degree program, and enrolled for nine hours or more. Descendants of Milton G. Waldbaum and his spouse and Daniel W. Gardner and his spouse are not eligible to receive a scholarship. 

SHIRLEY L. (McPECK) 
WALKER PANHELLENIC 
Established to provide scholarships to female students at UNK without regard for need, but to be based upon academics and activities.

WASHINGTON CORNHUSKERS
PUGET SOUND CHAPTER 
This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student enrolled at any campus within the University of Nebraska system.  Preference is given to the children of members of the Washington Cornhuskers Alumni Chapter.  Preference is given to graduates of a Washington State High School and who have a permanent residence in Washington.  Demonstrated financial need is recommended and a minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required. 

HAROLD E. WILLEY MEMORIAL
Awarded to a child of a Nebraska farmer, rancher, or persons in an agricultural-related business.  The recipient should have an academic level of a sophomore or above with a minimum 3.0 GPA. 

SUE STOETZEL WITHYCOMBE
Established to help support students of UNK who might be displaced from agricultural occupations by adverse circumstances (but the donors do not impose this as an absolute requirement).  Selection criteria considered includes past academic achievement and demonstration of potential for future academic and professional accomplishments. 

HELEN & BARNEY WOOD NEPALESE
The purpose of this scholarship is to encourage cultural diversity at UNK by providing financial aid opportunities to Nepalese students.  Recipients must be citizens of Nepal and ineligible for permanent residence in any other country, be enrolled full-time, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, have a minimum TOEFL score demonstrating adequate English competency, express an intent to return to Nepal, and express a desire to pursue a career in public government, professional service oriented organizations or other occupations designed to contribute to the welfare and development of the country of Nepal.  Preference shall be given to candidates who aspire to teach in their area of expertise.

HARLAND C. WOODS
This scholarship shall be awarded to students who graduated from Weeping Water High School. 

LOUIS G. & LAURA ZINNECKER
Established by the family of Louis & Laura Zinnecker, this scholarship shall be awarded to a student making progress toward receiving a degree.  Candidates shall have demonstrated high performance in their course of studies and exhibited financial need.  Preference shall be given to candidates who are either graduates of a Butler County, Nebraska high school, or who are permanent residents of Butler County, NE.

LOUISE ADAMS 
Established by a gift from Louise Adams to provide financial assistance to a junior or senior female student majoring in Elementary Education.  Eligible students must have a minimum 3.0 GPA. 

LOUISE AND MILDRED ADAMS 
EDUCATIONAL SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship shall be awarded to an undergraduate, full-time student pursuing a career in teaching.  Student must demonstrate financial need. 

CLAYTON H. ADEE MEMORIAL 
Established by the friends and family of the late Clayton H. Adee to provide financial assistance to senior students majoring in Education with plans to teach in the public schools.  The recipient must have a minimum 3.5 GPA and have graduated from a Nebraska high school. 

ISABEL M. BENNETT 
Established by a request from Isabel Bennett, this scholarship shall be awarded to a junior or senior female student pursuing a major in Teacher Education.  Selection will be based upon academic achievement. 

JOSEPH BOWES 
Established by the family of Joseph Bowes to provide financial assistance to sophomore, junior, or senior students who are pursuing a degree in Elementary or Secondary Education. Scholarships for Elementary Education majors and for Secondary Education majors will be awarded.  The awards are for second semester.

FLORENCE E. DAVIS BRAINARD MEMORIAL FUND
This scholarship shall be awarded to undergraduate students majoring in Elementary Education, College of Education.  Candidates shall have sophomore or above class standing and be graduates of a Nebraska high school.  Financial need will be considered.

BRYAN SISTERS
Established by Jack L. Bryan in honor of his sisters, this scholarship is intended to benefit seniors, especially women, during their student teaching semester prior to graduation.  Recipients must be majoring in Teacher Education in the College of Education.  Candidates shall have a senior class standing, a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, have taken or be enrolled for student teaching, and be graduates of a Nebraska high school.

BURTON BRYAN SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship shall be awarded to students majoring in Teacher Education in the College of Education.  Candidates shall have a senior class standing, cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above, have taken or be enrolled for student teaching, and be graduates of a Nebraska high school.

DR. JACK L. CAMPBELL MEMORIAL
Eligible students shall be full-time, undergraduates majoring in Special Education. The recipient shall have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above and must have demonstrated financial need. 

DR. JOHN COCHRAN
This scholarship shall be awarded to full-time students majoring in Communication Disorders or Speech Pathology.  Recipients shall have junior, senior, or graduate status, a minimum 3.0 GPA, shall have excellent clinical potential, be active in the student organization KSSLHA, and shall have expressed a desire to work in the area of Speech Pathology following graduation. 

COUNSELING AND SCHOOL PSYCHOLOGY FELLOWSHIP FUND
Candidates for this scholarship shall be graduate students within the Counseling and School Psychology program, College of Education.  Preference shall be given to students who might be otherwise unlikely to receive financial assistance for their education.

COUNSELING AND SCHOOL
PSYCHOLOGY
Established by the Department of Counseling and School Psychology to provide financial assistance to graduate students preparing for a career in counseling, school psychology, educational psychology, or any other program of graduate study offered within the department. 

CLYDE & GERTRUDE COX
Candidates for this scholarship shall be enrolled in the College of Education with a minimum grade point average of 3.0, sophomore class standing or above and full-time enrollment. Preference shall be given to students who have graduated from the following high schools: Sandhills, Minatare, Central City or Grand Island Northwest.  If no qualified applicant has graduated from one of preferred high schools, preference will go to qualified applicant who has graduated from a Class C or D Nebraska High School.

This scholarship shall be awarded to a female student who is entering her junior or senior year and enrolled in a Teacher Education program.  The recipient shall be a resident of Nebraska and have completed 70 credit hours.  Applicants should have a good scholastic record and exemplify high standards for teaching. 

KENT ESTES MEMORIAL FUND
Established to commemorate the life of Dr. Kent Estes.  One third of this scholarship shall be awarded to graduate students in the Counseling program who have been actively involved in Chi Sigma Iota honor society; one third shall be awarded to an undergraduate who is a member of a varsity sport at UNK; one third shall be awarded to an undergraduate who is a member of Pi Kappa Alpha at UNK.

KRISTINE EVERITT MEMORIAL
Established by the family of Kristine Everitt.  The scholarship shall be awarded to students majoring in Special Education in the College of Education.  Recipients shall have senior class standing, a cumulative GPA or 2.5 or above, and have expressed  a desire to pursue a career in and a passion for teaching or working with the mildly or moderately disabled.  Preference shall be given to candidates demonstrating financial need. 

GRACE LUNDEEN FRANDSEN MEMORIAL
Established to commemorate the life of Grace Lundeen Frandsen.  The scholarship shall be awarded to one undergraduate student in the Department of Elementary Education/Early Childhood, College of Education.  The recipient shall have junior or above class standing, have a 3.0 or above GPA, and be involved in church and community volunteering.

LIBBY GILBERT MEMORIAL
Established to commemorate the live of Libby Gilbert.  Candidates shall be majoring in Early Childhood Education, have a GPA of 3.0 or above, and demonstrate financial need.

This scholarship shall be awarded to a Special Education major who will be student teaching during the year in which they receive the scholarship.  Recipients shall have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above and be graduates of a Nebraska High School.

Recipients for the scholarship must be full-time students majoring in Special Education and must have sophomore or above class standing.  Recipients shall have a cumulative GPA of 2.5 or above and be graduates of a Nebraska High School.

Awarded to an undergraduate or graduate student majoring in Communication Disorders or Special Education.  The preference is for a student enrolled in Communication Disorders.  Selection is based upon academic achievement and financial need. 

EDNA LARSEN MEMORIAL
Established to help support students in the field of Special Education, Speech Pathology, Physical Therapy, or any area of teaching handicapped persons, who have completed a full year of college work.  Selection shall be based on past academic achievement and demonstration of potential for future academic and professional accomplishments.  Financial need may be considered but shall not be the determining factor.      

SANDY KRAUSNICK MEMORIAL
This scholarship shall be awarded to a currently enrolled student majoring in Special Education, Gifted & Talented program.  The recipients shall be a sophomore or above.

JANICE JONES SCHUH
This scholarship honors the life of Janice Jones Schuh, a graduate of Kearney State Teachers College in 1940. Candidates must be majoring in Elementary Education with a senior class standing and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above. Preference shall be given to candidates who have participated in art or music and have a special interest in children’s literature. Preference shall also be given to students who have demonstrated financial need.

This scholarship shall be awarded to students majoring in education.  Recipients shall be graduates of a Nebraska high school, have junior or senior class standing, and be seeking an endorsement in coaching.  First preference given to students participating in intercollegiate athletics.

UNK NEBRASKA TEACHER WORLD
This scholarship shall be awarded to undergraduate students enrolled in the Department of Teacher Education.  Preference shall be given to candidates who have demonstrated financial need by qualifying for Pell Grants as determined by the UNK Office of Financial Aid.

LARRY VONTZ 
Established to provide financial assistance to one or more full-time undergraduate students. Recipients shall be majoring in Education, have sophomore class standing or above, and be in good standing with regard to the minimum GPA requirements of the College of Education to permit graduation.  Students considered must be graduates of a Nebraska high school located in Boyd, Holt, Wheeler, Greeley, Howard, Hall, Adams, or Webster County, or any other Nebraska county located west of these counties.  The recipients must have expressed a desire to seek employment in the area of Elementary/Secondary teaching in the state of Nebraska following graduation. "Dan" Windhorst to help support students in the Elementary and/or Special Education Department.  The recipient should have a minimum 2.5 GPA.  Preference will be given to students of Alpha Phi sorority. If no Alpha Phi is available, the recipient may be either a male or female student of sophomore status or above and/or graduate student who meets the academic requirements of Teacher Education.

This scholarship shall be awarded to a secondary education major with sophomore class standing or above.  Candidates shall have a minimum GPA of 3.0 required, be a graduate of Nebraska high school in any one of the following counties: Custer, Valley, Sherman, Buffalo, Kearney, Phelps, Gosper or Dawson. Financial need shall be considered when making this award.                        

ADAMS FAMILY ENGLISH SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship shall be awarded to an undergraduate majoring in English Education with sophomore class standing or above and a minimum GPA of 3.0. 

HAROLD L. AHRENDTS MEMORIAL
Established by the friends and family of Dr. Harold Ahrendts, former chairman of the Department of Speech and Communication/Theatre Arts, this scholarship shall be awarded to sophomore, junior, or senior students active in debate and/or forensics.  Recipients must have a minimum 3.0 GPA.

Established in memory of E. Roy Blazer, an instructor in the English Department at UNK who loved teaching and music.  Preference will be given to students in their first year at UNK demonstrating financial need.

O.K. BOUWSMA PHILOSOPHY

Established to help support students of UNK in the College of Fine Arts and Humanities. Recipients shall be full time, have a minimum 3.0 GPA in Journalism, and be a sophomore or junior majoring in Journalism with an emphasis in Sports Information.  Preference shall be given to students from rural areas in Central Nebraska Counties.  Financial need may be considered, but will not be the determinant factor.  This scholarship is to be awarded second semester.

BUFFALO COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION 
The recipient of this scholarship shall have demonstrated the ability to express themself well, think well on their feet and be proficient in expressing an idea or opinion.  Preference is given to students involved in Speech and Debate or students who intend to enroll in law school.

JOSEPH P. CARROLL MEMORIAL
Established in memory of Joseph P. Carroll, this scholarship shall be awarded to an English major.  Candidates shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA and junior or senior status.

LAVERN CLARK MEMORIAL

CAROL COPE MUSIC
Established by long time UNK supporter Carol Cope, this scholarship shall be awarded to a student majoring in Music.  The recipient shall have a sophomore, junior, or senior class standing, and have a minimum 3.0 GPA. Additionally, applicants must complete a comprehensive application to include a portfolio of activities and accomplishments, a short essay detailing the candidate's professional goals, and two written recommendations from UNK faculty members. Established by Stanley and May Copley, this scholarship will be awarded to full-time students.  Candidates shall be majoring in History, Social Science, or English; have sophomore, junior, or senior class standing; have a minimum 2.5 GPA; and have graduated from a Nebraska high school.  Financial need will be a primary consideration. 

CUSHING & ANDERSONMEMORIAL
The purpose of this scholarship is to commemorate the lives of Margaret Cushing Anderson and Herbert Cushing, Jr., children of Dr. and Mrs. Herbert L. Cushing. Dr. Cushing was the fourth President of Kearney State College and served for twenty-five years.  This scholarship shall be awarded to full-time undergraduate students who have sophomore, junior, or senior class standing, a minimum 3.0 GPA, graduated from a Nebraska high school, and majoring in Pre-Medicine, Journalism or English. 

DON DURYEA MEMORIAL
Established by the family and friends of former English professor, Donald Duryea, this scholarship shall be awarded to a senior majoring in English Education with a minimum 3.5 GPA.  The award is for second semester. 

FRANCES LARSON EHLY MEMORIAL
Established in 1982 by the friends and family of Francis Larson Ehly, who was the wife of Kearney State College administrative staff member R. J. Ehly.  This scholarship shall be awarded to a junior or senior music student with preference given to organ or piano students.  Selection shall be based upon ability and financial need.  Contact the Department of Music and Performing Arts for an application.

This scholarship shall be awarded to a student majoring in English who is a graduate from Boone Central High School in Albion, NE.  A minimum grade point average of 3.0 is required.

This scholarship shall be awarded to undergraduate students with sophomore class standing or above, majoring in broadcasting.  A cumulative GPA of 3.0 is required.  Candidates should have 9 hours in broadcast related courses with a GPA of 3.0 in those courses at the time of application. 

BOB AND DORA JENNER MEMORIAL
Established by Bob Jenner in memory of his wife Dora and himself.  This scholarship shall provide assistance to students majoring in Communication or Theater.  Preference shall be given to students who have graduated from Loup City, Nebraska High School.

STEVEN K. JORGENSEN MEMORIAL
Established to commemorate the life of Steve Jorgensen, this scholarship shall be awarded to students majoring in Music in the Department of Music and Performing Arts at UNK with a sophomore class standing or above and a minimum GPA of 3.0. Candidates shall be graduates of a Kearney High School, Kearney, NE. Preference shall be given to students who have demonstrated need and to those who are involved in the Loper Programming and Activities Council (LPAC) or any successor organization.

KEARNEY HUB/JOURNALISM
These scholarships shall be awarded to upperclass students majoring in Journalism. Selection shall be based upon potential as a journalist, contributions to student publications, and interest in the newspaper field. 

JAMES M. AND SHARON P. 
KNAPP DEBATE
Established in 1977 by Attorney James Knapp and Mrs. Knapp, who both attended Kearney State College.  This scholarship shall be awarded to upperclass students from Buffalo County, Nebraska who are participating in intercollegiate debate. 

DAVID AND BARBARA HINTERLONG LARSEN SCHOLARSHIP
This scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time undergraduate majoring in Music. Preference shall be given to a junior with an emphasis in piano, organ, or voice and who has 3.0 GPA or above.  Contact the Department of Music and Performing Arts for an application.

DR. MARY A. LIERLEY
Established to provide financial assistance to a UNK student.  Special consideration will be given to students with a sophomore, junior, or senior standing majoring in Art with first preference given to students majoring in Art History, and having a minimum 3.0 GPA. Financial need will be considered in selecting the recipients with consideration given to students who are academically eligible but may be financially restrained from continuing their education. 

GLENN AND TERRY LUCE MUSIC Established to commemorate the lives of Glenn and Terry Luce; candidates shall be majoring in music or music education, have a freshman class standing or above, and a minimum gpa of 2.5.  Preference given to candidates who have been active member of marching band, concert band, or symphonic band at UNK; preference to candidates with demonstrated financial need.

BILL LYNN VOCAL MUSIC 
Established to support students in Vocal Music.  Recipients shall be a Vocal Music major with a minimum 2.5 GPA.  Selection criteria considered include past academic achievement and demonstration of potential for future academic and professional accomplishments.  Although financial need may be considered, it should not be the determining factor.  Contact the Department of Music and Performing Arts for an application. 

MARIBETH LYNN STRING MUSIC
Established to support undergraduate students in the department of Music and Performing Arts at UNK.  Preference shall be given to majors in music, music performance, or music education.  Candidates shall have a sophomore class standing or above, a cumulative gpa of 2.5 or above, and an expressed desire to pursue a career in music education.  Candidates shall have a demonstrated talent and ability in playing a string instrument.  Preference will be given to students with financial need.

BOBBIE McKENZIE 
This scholarship shall be awarded to full-time, undergraduates majoring in Journalism or Mass Communication with Junior class standing and a minimum GPA of 3.0.  Candidates shall have completed or be in the process of completing two semesters of work on the: (1) Antelope newspaper or (2) have completed a three credit newspaper internship at UNK. Candidates should have completed at least nine hours in a Journalism/Mass Communication major at the time of application. 

ROCK MORRIS MEMORIAL
Established by the friends and family of Rock Morris, this scholarship shall be awarded to a sophomore, junior, or senior student who is majoring in Art.  Selection will be based on financial need, and the recipient must have a minimum 2.5 GPA. 

GERALD S. OSWALD SPEECH
COMMUNICATION/THEATRE ARTS
These scholarships are awarded to full-time undergraduates majoring in Speech Communication or Theatre Arts. Candidates must have sophomore, junior, or senior class standing and have a 3.0 or above GPA.  Preference will be given to students who graduated from Aurora or Loup City High Schools.  Second preference shall be given to applicants who graduated from any Nebraska high school.

This scholarship shall be awarded to students of creative writing at the undergraduate and graduate levels.  Creative writing includes poetry, short stories, novels, creative non-fiction essays, playscripts and screenplays.  A major in English is required.  A writing sample is required for consideration for this scholarship.

Established by the friends and family of Calvin T. Ryan, this scholarship shall be awarded to an English major.  Selection shall be based upon scholarship, a minimum 3.0 GPA, accomplishments, and professional goals.  The award is for second semester. 

MYRON SCOTT MEMORIAL
Established by a bequest in the will of the late Myron Scott in memory of his parents, Thomas Jefferson Scott and Mary Estello Grant Scott, this scholarship shall be awarded to a UNK student who attended high school in Buffalo County.  Preference shall be given to students who demonstrate ability in the arts or sciences, particularly the graphic arts or political science. 

SIGMA TAU DELTA
This scholarship shall be awarded to a student who has completed 45 to 88 semester hours and is majoring in English.  The recipient shall have a minimum cumulative 2.8 GPA and a minimum 3.0 GPA in English.

Established by the family of Miriam A. Worlock to provide financial assistance to a junior or senior student majoring in Art.  Eligible students shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA in their discipline.  Selection shall be based on talent and financial need. 

DON WELCH FAMILY
This scholarship shall be awarded to a student with a minor in Philosophy.  Candidates shall have demonstrated interest in English and Classical Poetry. 

ASSOCIATION FOR COMPUTING MACHINERY SCHOLARSHIP
The recipient of this scholarship shall be a member of the ACM organization at UNK.  Candidate shall have a 3.0 or above GPA and have completed 14 credit hours in computer science.

ELMER H. AND MARIAN L.  BECKMANN
Established to help support a student(s) in the UNK Departments of Physics or Physical Science (preference to a student of Physics).  Selection shall be based on past academic achievement and demonstration of potential for future academic and professional accomplishments.  Although financial need may be considered as criterion, it should not be the determining factor in selecting recipients.

DALE & IZONA BEST
This scholarship shall be awarded to students majoring in History or History/Social Science Education.  Past academic achievement and demonstration of potential for future academic and professional accomplishments shall be considered.

LADDIE & IRIS BICAK FAMILY
This scholarship shall provide financial assistance for undergraduate and graduate students pursuing a major in Biology. Recipients must be full-time students. 

AMANDA BOSAK MEMORIAL
Established by the family of Amanda Bosak, this scholarship shall be awarded to students majoring in Biology or Criminal Justice.  Candidates shall be juniors or seniors with a 3.0 or above GPA.  Financial need will be considered.

BUFFALO COUNTY BAR ASSOCIATION
The recipients of this scholarship shall have demonstrated the ability to think well on their feet and be proficient in expressing an idea or opinion.  Preference shall be given to students involved in Speech and Debate or students who intend to enroll in law school.

REX CARR MEMORIAL
Established by Mr. & Mrs. Bill Carr in memory of Rex Carr, this scholarship shall be awarded to juniors or seniors who are active in the Wildlife Program and/or Wildlife Society, or in Biology.  The recipient(s) shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA, be full-time, and be a resident of Scottsbluff County, an adjacent county, or the Panhandle of Nebraska.  If there are no eligible applicants from these areas, then the recipient may be a Central Nebraska resident. 

HARVEY E. COLE
Candidates for this scholarship shall be undergraduates majoring in Biology with sophomore class standing or above and a minimum GPA of 3.0. 

COPLEY FAMILY
Established by Stanley and May Copley, this scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time student.  Candidates shall be majoring in History, Social Science, or English, have sophomore, junior, or senior class standing, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and have graduated from a Nebraska high school.  Financial need will be the primary criteria. 

CUSHING & ANDERSON MEMORIAL
The purpose of this scholarship is to commemorate the lives of Margaret Cushing Anderson and Herbert Cushing, Jr., children of Dr. and Mrs. Herbert L. Cushing. Dr. Cushing was the fourth President of Kearney State College and served for twenty-five years.  This scholarship shall be awarded to full-time undergraduate students who have sophomore, junior, or senior class standing, a minimum 3.0 GPA, graduated from a Nebraska high school, and who is majoring in Pre-Medicine, Journalism or English. 

DEEANNA DELAET MEMORIAL
Established by the family of DeeAnna Delaet, this scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time sophomore or above majoring in Biology and/or Chemistry.  The recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Financial need may be considered but should not be the determining factor in selection.

HARRIET McFADDEN MEMORIAL
This scholarship shall be awarded to a student majoring in Mathematics.

DR. DONALD E. FOX
Established by former professor, Dr. Donald E. Fox, to provide financial aid to a second semester freshman with a major or minor in Chemistry.  Selection shall be based upon academic achievement, financial need, integrity, and motivation. 

IDEN BILL GRIFFIN MEMORIAL 
Established by Bobbie Griffin in memory of her husband, this scholarship shall be awarded to a graduate of David City High School majoring in one of the following degrees: Architecture, Business Administration, Engineering, Agriculture and Natural Resources, or Business and Technology. 

GENE HAMAKER MEMORIAL
This scholarship shall be awarded to incoming freshmen, upperclass and graduate students majoring in History.  The award shall be based on academic performance.  Incoming freshmen recipients shall declare a History major and enroll in a History course.  Upperclass  recipients shall be majoring in History and complete at least one 3 hour upper division (300-400 level) course.  Graduate students shall also complete History courses during semesters receiving scholarships. 

MILDRED BENSEN HANSEN BIOLOGY
This scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time junior or senior undergraduate student majoring in Biology. 

PHILIP S. & LOIS C. HOLMGREN
Established to be used annually or otherwise for scholarships to full-time undergraduate students in the Colleges of Natural and Social Sciences and Education at UNK.  Selection criteria include majoring in History and/or Social Sciences, having a sophomore, junior, or senior class standing, and having a minimum 2.8 GPA.  An International Graduate student may apply for the scholarship and be considered if an undergraduate is not selected.  Financial need will not be a consideration. 

DR. O. D. JOHNSON MEMORIAL
Established by the friends and family of Dr. Johnson, this scholarship shall be awarded to a junior Pre-Medical or Para-Medical major with a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Financial need will be considered. 

EDNA LARSEN MEMORIAL
Established to help support a student or students in the field of Special Education, Speech Pathology, Physical Therapy, or any area of teaching handicapped persons, and who have completed a full year of college work.  Selection shall be based on past academic achievement and demonstration of potential for future academic and professional accomplishments.  Financial need may be considered but should not be the determining factor in selection. 

L.M. LARSEN MEMORIAL MATHEMATICS
This scholarship shall be awarded to undergraduate students majoring in mathematics or statistics, College of Natural and Social Sciences.  Candidates shall be juniors or above and have a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or above.  Financial need will be considered.

DONALD L. LIEHS
This scholarship shall be awarded to undergraduate students with sophomore or above class standing.  Candidates shall be majoring in math, chemistry, physics, biology, pre-medicine, pre-engineering or a pre-professional health program.  Candidates shall have demonstrated financial need and must be graduates of a  Nebraska High School.  Candidates shall have a GPA of 3.0 or above and be enrolled for full-time status.

DR. LYLE E. MANTOR MEMORIAL
Established by the friends and family of the late Dr. Mantor, this scholarship shall be awarded to an upperclass student majoring in History, who has a minimum 3.0 GPA.  Selection shall be based on scholarship, accomplishment, and professional goals.  The award is for second semester. 

MARGARET A. McMULLEN MEMORIAL
Established by the friends and family of Margaret A. McMullen, this scholarship shall be awarded to a senior Social Work major with a 3.0 GPA or above.  Selection will be based on financial need. 

ARTICE MILES
Established by faculty and students of the Social Work Program in honor of Mrs. Miles, this scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time sophomore or junior student enrolled in the Social Work Program.  The recipient shall have a minimum 3.0 GPA and demonstrate aptitude and potential for the profession of social work.  Financial need will also be a consideration. 

DR. MARY L. MORSE MEMORIAL 
Established by friends and family of the late Dr. Morse to provide financial assistance to a sophomore or junior student majoring in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or Biology.

DANIEL H. AND DEBRA L. MOWREY STATISTICAL EXCELLENCE
Established to help support students in the Department of Mathematics and Statistics. Recipients shall be juniors or seniors majoring in Mathematics or Statistics, with at least two courses in statistics with a grade of 3.0 or better and a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better.  Financial need may be considered, but will not be the determining factor. 

THEODORA NELSON
This scholarship shall be awarded to two undergraduate students pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Education with a math endorsement.  Recipients shall have junior class standing or above and a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.5. 

JAMES W. NIELSEN MEMORIAL
Established by the friends and family of James W. Nielsen to provide financial assistance to a junior or senior students majoring in Physical Science and/or Mathematics.  Eligible students shall have a minimum 3.5 GPA. 

GEORGE NORRIS 
Established by friends and family of George Norris to provide financial assistance to sophomore, junior, or senior students who are pursuing a major, minor, or teaching endorsement in Political Science.  Recipients shall have completed at least six hours of political science courses and demonstrated scholarship and interest in Political Science. HELEN E. OGLE MEMORIAL
This scholarship shall be awarded to an undergraduate, full-time student majoring in Mathematics. 

THE PLATTE VALLEY STATE
BANK & TRUST COMPANY
Established to help support students of UNK in the College of Business or Business-related area, i.e. Mathematics, Computer Science, etc. Recipients shall be a high school graduate of Buffalo County or an adjacent county. Recipients shall be Business, Mathematics, or Computer Science majors with a minimum 3.0 GPA. 

RECYCLERS ECOLOGY
Established to help support full-time undergraduate students at UNK.  Candidates shall have sophomore, junior, or senior class standing, a minimum 3.0 GPA, and demonstrated interest in ecological concerns and/or being a biology or geography major. Financial need will not be considered in making this award. 

DALE L. & ELLEN J. SCHROEDER  
Established to provide financial assistance to a full-time sophomore, junior, or senior student. Recipients shall be majoring in Criminal Justice, Political Science, or any major within the College of Business and Technology, have a minimum 3.0 GPA, and have graduated from a Nebraska high school. 

MYRON SCOTT MEMORIAL
Established by a bequest in the will of the late Myron Scott in memory of his parents, Thomas Jefferson Scott and Mary Estello Grant Scott. These scholarships shall be awarded to UNK students who attended high school in Buffalo County.  Preference shall be given to students who demonstrate ability in the arts or sciences, particularly the graphic arts or political science. 

RICHARD SERBOUSEK MEMORIAL
Established by the friends and family of Richard Serbousek to provide financial assistance to students preparing for a career in medicine or medical technology.  First preference shall be given to a graduate of Atkinson or Stuart High School, second preference to a graduate of Hay Springs or Chadron High School, and third preference to a graduate of any Nebraska high school. 

SOCIOLOGICAL IMAGINATION 
This scholarship shall be awarded to full-time Sociology majors with sophomore class standing or above. 

DR. LaVERNE C. STEFFENS MEMORIAL
Established to assist students of UNK.  The recipient shall be a well-rounded student who shows evidence of strong motivation (school activities, community service, scholarship and leadership) and meets the following criteria: enrolled and accepted in the Pre-Medicine program, sophomore or above classification, minimum 3.0 GPA.  Residents of Nebraska will receive first consideration.  Note to applicants: Complete the medical essay within the online application.  In the essay identify career goals, reasons for choosing these goals, and describe the special qualities you feel you bring to the chosen profession.  Conclude the essay with a statement regarding reasons why you are applying for this scholarship.  

WILLIAM STEHLIK MEMORIAL
Established by friends and family of William Stehlik, this scholarship shall be awarded to a student majoring in Pre-Pharmacy or Pre-Medicine.  Candidates shall be 
graduates of Nebraska high schools. 

DAVID R. STEVENSON MEMORIAL HISTORY SCHOLARSHIP
The recipient shall be a full-time student in the College of Natural and Social Sciences majoring in History.  The recipient shall have sophomore class standing or above and have a minimum grade point average of 3.0.  Financial need shall be considered in making this award. 

W.C. STOTTS HISTORY
This scholarship shall be awarded to a History major with sophomore class standing or above and minimum GPA of 3.0. 

O.T. VENTRISS MEMORIAL
Recipient must be a full-time undergraduate majoring in History or in History-Social Studies.  The student shall have sophomore standing or above and have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above.  Financial need will be a major factor in selection. 

KENDALL L. WEYERS MEMORIAL
Established to help full-time students at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  Selection criteria include being a senior and being the son or daughter of currently employed, deceased, or retired law enforcement officer within the State of Nebraska.  Applicants in any major or minor may apply; however, Criminal Justice majors and minors will receive special consideration.  Those who have proven academic excellence and provided proof of financial need shall be given first consideration. Please include on your application the name and past/present position of the parent who qualifies you for this scholarship.    

Athletic Awards

ARMAGOST FAMILY SCHOLARSHIP
IN MEMORY OF ROB ARMAGOST
Established by a gift of the Armagost Family in memory of Rob Armagost, this scholarship shall be awarded to full-time undergraduate students in the Department of Industrial Technology. Recipients shall have junior or senior class standing.  Preference will be given to Industrial Technology majors who participate in a varsity intercollegiate athletic program sponsored by UNK. 

MIKE BAKER
This scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time student participating in baseball.  The recipient shall be selected by the Athletic Director in consultation with the baseball coach. 

BOARS INTERNATIONAL
Established to assist one or more full-time undergraduate students enrolled at UNK. Selection criteria include being active in varsity athletics at UNK, a resident of Nebraska, of sophomore, junior, or senior status, and a minimum 2.0 GPA.  Financial need will not be a criteria.  Recipients shall be selected by the UNK Scholarship Committee. 

ALVIN BROWN MEMORIAL
Established by friends and family of Alvin Brown, this scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time undergraduate student.  The recipient must be a member of the varsity football or men's basketball program, and have graduated from a Nebraska high school.  Selection shall be made by the Athletic Director, Football and Men's Basketball Coach. 

BUSH FAMILY ATHLETIC
Recipients shall participate in a varsity athletic program at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  First preference shall be given to basketball players.  The recipient shall be a sophomore, junior, or senior with a cumulative grade point average of at least 3.0.  Recipients shall be graduates of a Nebraska High School. 

DON CHILDS MEMORIAL
Established by the friends and family of Don Childs, to provide financial assistance to two sophomore, junior, or senior track athletes. Selection shall be based upon the athletes' ability in distance running, as well as leadership qualities, and general good character. Recipients shall be selected by the track coaches. 

F. KEITH COTTRELL
Established by the friends and family of F. Keith Cottrell, who was a Kearney State College graduate and a member of the Athletic Associates.  This scholarship shall be awarded to a UNK athlete.  Selection shall be based upon financial need.  Recipients shall be selected by the Athletic Director in consultation with coaches. 

KENT ESTES MEMORIAL FOR UNK ATHLETICS                                               This scholarship shall be awarded to regularly enrolled undergraduate students who are members of any varsity sport.  Candidates shall be members of the Student Athlete Advisory Committee.

FIRST FEDERAL LINCOLN 
Awarded by the Athletic Department to one female athlete and one male athlete ($500 each).  The recipients shall be entering her/his final year and be a resident of Nebraska. These students shall demonstrate financial need and use the funds for direct educational expense.  Recipients shall be selected by the Athletic Director in consultation with coaches.

CHARLIE FOSTER MEN'S AND
WOMEN'S TRACK SCHOLARSHIP 
Established by Charlie Foster to assist student athletes participating in track.  Selection shall be made by the track coaches. 

TOM FOX MEMORIAL GOLF
Established to provide financial assistance to students at UNK.  Selection criteria include being a member of the UNK Golf team, a minimum 2.5 GPA, and past academic achievement and demonstration of potential for future academic and professional accomplishments.  Although financial need may be considered, it should not be the determining factor.  Recipients shall be selected by the golf coach in consultation with the Athletic Director. 

GOOD SAMARITAN HOSPITAL
This scholarship shall be awarded to 3 or more undergraduate students enrolled at the University of Nebraska at Kearney.  Candidates shall be participating in a varsity sport.  Preference shall be given to candidates who have expresses a desire to pursue a health related career after graduation.

DUDLEY W. GRAHAM MEMORIAL
Established by Gary D. Graham, M.D. in memory of his father, Dudley Graham, who was an athlete at Kearney State College and was actively involved in the athletic program. This scholarship shall be awarded alternately between athletes participating in football and men's basketball.  Recipients shall be selected by the Athletic Director in consultation with the respective coach. 

LORRAINE LUNGRIN MEMORIAL VOLLEYBALL
Established to commemorate the life of Lorraine Lungrin, this scholarship shall be awarded to a member of the UNK Volleyball Team. The recipient shall be selected by the UNK Scholarship Committee in consultation with the UNK Head Volleyball coach.

DULWORTH "DODE" GRAHAM ATHLETIC Established to provide support for students of UNK.  Recipients shall meet the academic standards of the University to be eligible. Financial need may be considered, but will not be the determining factor.  Recipients shall be selected by the UNK Scholarship Committee from applicants recommended by the Athletic Director.

GARY G. JOHNSON MEMORIAL
Established by the family of Gary Johnson to provide financial assistance to a full-time UNK student athlete from Nebraska.  The recipient shall be a sophomore, junior, or senior and should be participating in football.  Recipients shall be selected by the football coach in consultation with the Athletic Director. 

LETTERPERSON ATHLETIC
This scholarship, established by Dick Beechner, shall be awarded to a student athlete.  The recipient shall be selected by the Athletic Director in consultation with coaches.

LOPER LEGACY
This scholarship shall be awarded to regularly enrolled undergraduates who are members of the UNK football team.  Recipients shall be determined by the head football coach. 

MATTSON FAMILY 
The recipient must be a member of the Men's or Women's Varsity Golf program.  Selection shall be made jointly by the Golf Coach and the Director of Athletics. 

WAYNE R. & VIRGINIA E. L. 
McKINNEY FAMILY 
Established to help support students enrolled at UNK.  Two scholarships shall be awarded each year, one to a Business major, and one to an athlete in any field of study.  Selection criteria include a minimum 3.0 GPA, with first consideration given to students from Buffalo County and then to students from central Nebraska.  Recipients shall be selected by the UNK Scholarship Committee. 

ROD PETERSON MEMORIAL
Established by the friends and family of Rodney Peterson, this scholarship shall be awarded to a varsity baseball athlete.  Recipients shall be selected by the baseball coach. 

FRANCIS L. RICHARDS
This scholarship shall be awarded to a full-time, undergraduate, track athlete.  The recipient shall be selected by the track coach.

Established by Dr. Francis L. Richards and Donald K. Briggs, this scholarship shall be awarded to a male or female member of the varsity track program.  Recipients shall have sophomore, junior, or senior class standing, have a minimum 2.5 GPA, and have graduated from a Nebraska high school.  Financial need shall be a criteria but not the determining factor. Recipients shall be selected by the UNK Scholarship Committee upon recommendation from the Men's and Women's Track coaches.

ATHLETIC SCHOLARSHIP 
Established to help support a student athlete at UNK.  Recipients shall be nominated by the Athletic Director and selected by the UNK Scholarship Committee. 

UNIVERSITY OF NEBRASKA 
AT KEARNEY TENNIS SCHOLARSHIP 
This scholarship, established by the Kearney Tennis Association, shall be awarded to male and female students who are members of the UNK Tennis Team.  Recipients may have any class standing and must have a minimum 2.0 GPA.  The UNK Scholarship Committee shall select the recipients upon recommendations from the tennis coach. 

UPPER DECK
This scholarship shall be awarded to regularly enrolled undergraduate students at UNK who are members of the baseball team.  Recipients shall be selected by the baseball coach in consultation with the Athletic Director.

BERT WALLACE MEMORIAL
Established to help support students in athletics, with track to be given preference. Recipients should have a minimum 3.0 GPA, or if a freshman, be in the top 20% of their high school graduating class.  Recipients shall be selected by the UNK Scholarship Committee from applicants recommended by the Athletic Director. 

AL AND VERLENE ZIKMUND ATHLETIC
Established to help support students enrolled at UNK.  Recipients shall have a student classification of sophomore or above and be a member of the varsity football team.  Recipients shall be selected by the football coaches and athletic director of UNK.  The recipient shall be academically eligible and remain so to participate in athletics and be moving toward graduating with a degree from UNK.
