This site is for anyone who wants to know more about Disability Services at the University of Nebraska at Kearney (UNK). However, it is not meant to replace direct communication so please feel free to contact our office anytime.

About Us

Disability Services aims to provide information, guidance and support to disabled people who work and study at the University and to those who aspire to do so.

The service works with University departments and external partners in order to ensure that the specific requirements of disabled people are incorporated in all practices and procedures. The Office of Disability Services is the University of Nebraska at Kearney's center for coordinating services and accommodations to ensure accessibility and usability of all programs, services, and activities of UNK by people with disabilities - and is a resource for information and advocacy toward their full participation in all aspects of campus life.

Site Accessibility

One of the key goals of the Disability Services web site was to improve accessibility. A number of accessible design elements have been added, including:

Ability to change text size. Most browsers have a feature that allows you to change text size.

  • Internet Explorer - from the menu bar select View, then Text Size, and choose a suitable text size.
  • Netscape 4.x - from the menu bar select View, then Increase Font or Decrease Font.
    Alternatively, using Ctrl ] (hold the control key [Mac users: command key] down and press the right square bracket key) will increase text size, while Ctrl [ (hold the control key down and press the left square bracket key) will decrease it
  • Mozilla - from the menu bar select View, then Text Zoom, and choose a suitable text size.
    Alternatively, using Ctrl + (hold the control key [Mac users: command key] down and press the plus key) will increase text size, while Ctrl - (hold the control key [Mac users: command key] down and press the minus key) will decrease it

Text navigation elements. No images are used to create navigation bars. A visible link at the top of each page to allow users to easily jump over navigation links and go directly to page content. Please contact us with any suggestions.
