To recognize men who strive to positively define masculinity through leadership, challenging norms, and who actively take a stance against violence, including violence against women.
1. To challenge the premise that men need to assume a passive role in preventing violence against women
and gender inequality.
2. To foster a welcoming and supportive environment specifically for men.
3. To help acknowledge that men and women are partners in the prevention of violence against women.
- According to www.mencanstoprape.org 80% of college aged men are uncomfortable with women being mistreated.
- Bystander intervention is not about being feminist, it's about accountability and respect.
- Violence against women can be prevented!
- Know where you stand.
- Know your comfort level with intervening.
- Nominate a Man of Merit.
- Help educate others on these issues.
- Lead by example.
