Services for Online Students
The Academic & Career Services office assists students with academic questions related to changing/declaring majors and academic advising, and also serves as the primary career services department at UNK. FOCUS-2: is a great online system for students interested in exploring how their interests and values relate to career and major exploration. It is also a great tool for conducting research on certain occupations.
Résumé and Cover Letter critiques can be completed via email. Simply email the Word document to email@example.com and one of our advisors will respond with feedback within 3-5 business days.
Are you unsure about how to get started? Résumés for America is an online résumé builder that helps you create an effective and professional résumé by providing expert tips, writing examples, and helpful suggestions. This shouldn't replace the résumé critique service, upon completing your résumé you are still encouraged to email it to an advisor for review.
The Big Interview is a site that allows students to conduct online practice job interviews. All you need is Internet access and a webcam. The site allows you to respond to pre-recorded interview questions and it records your responses. You are able to watch your interview, and share it with others if you'd like to get feedback.
loperCAREERS: is our online job board. Many of the jobs posted are within the state of Nebraska, but the site is associated with a national job board so online students from out-of-state might find opportunities here as well.
Publications: Our department has several publications filled with useful information. Topics include résumé and cover letter writing, professional job search strategies, preparing for a career fair, and exploring majors.
YouTube: Receive tips on professionalism and preparing for career fairs from professionals and fellow students.
