Excel: Combining contents of multiple cells, i.e. combine first & last name

Have you ever wanted in Excel to combine a First Name cell with a Last Name cell? To combine two cells together is really very easy if you remember the following Excel formulas listed below.

Excel formula

1.  Select the new cell in which you want to combine the contents of other cells.  For example, cell C2.

2.  See the examples below and key in the formula that matches your particular need.

Combine the names above, separated by a space (Jane Petersen)  Use this formula:  =A2&" "&B2   

Note:  you need a space between the quotation marks.  "cell A2 ampersand quotation mark space quotation mark ampersand cell B2"

Combine the names above, separated by a comma (Ray, Don)   Use this formula:  =B3&", "&A3

Note:  you need a comma and a space between the quotation marks.  "cell B3 ampersand quotation mark comma space quotation mark ampersand cell A3"
